Alright, I was going to post this yesterday, but I felt as if it would be jarring considering the topics going on in this thread, but I was on Twitter yesterday, and I've noticed that there were people still upset over Isabelle, Incineroar, Plant, and the Grinch in general.

So, I'm curious, are you guys still upset over the final 4, or the "what-could-have-been" of the Grinch? Not trying to have any malicious intent with this, just an honest question.

in complete honesty I am still a little saddened by it being fake since that would've been the Dream roster but at least Incineroar is very unique and kind of fun to play as so I at least accept what we got instead

As a guy who chose Litten in Sun and Moon, I was all up for Incineroar...

As for the Grinch Leak, the only character on there I was hyped for, were the Chorus Kids... A Rhythm Heaven rep has been my most wanted ever since I started playing the series.

That being said, there was a character on the Grinch Leak that I definitely wasn't looking forward to, so I was fine with just Incineroar in the end

We don't have enough information to know whether the ASM glitch is an accidental sign of things to come, and there're still unanswered questions (like why Joker has no counterpart, or why Piranha Plant sets off the glitch but Bowser Jr. doesn't). Main reason it's worth keeping an eye on is because a character who keeps getting rumored actually could plausibly use Mii Swordfighter as a base.

Even then, if it does mean something, then all it narrows things down to is that they'd have most likely used Duck Hunt as a base for a quadruped fighter (since they use these things for basic details like overall model shape or hurtbox placements, not attack animations, so they'd use someone like Mario or a spacie if they needed a reference point for Banjo). Still several options therein (Amaterasu is another standout), which is why we've been playing this by ear in the thread and just talking about it instead of over-committing.

Better to explore multiple angles and have more stuff to discuss than, say, jumping on board with whichever ideas are most popular at the time and making fun of anyone who doesn't.

Couldn't have cared less about the Grinch, and it did more harm than good.


As someone who had 'very' good reasons to believe the Box Theory and Vergeben, I knew the Grinch was just an elaborate hoax, though I had no way of proving it besides the information I had heard, which, who was going to believe it when the community had more or less taken a "**** INSIDERS!" stance?

As previously established the Plant is based off of Junior and those are wildly different in pretty much everything so it wouldn't even narrow it down to a quadruped

I feel like I would enjoy being a "Smash tuber", but for real...there are some pretty cringey folks out there not just because they cover Smash, but their picks for characters were ****ing awful.

I remember these two dudes in a video once completely seriously thought about cutting Marth with the sole purpose of adding Lucina pre-Smash 4. Like, the problem with being character speculators is that sometimes people have bad ideas, and people are too afraid to call others out for them. That was a terrible idea, and it clearly wasn't going to happen.

Plus there seems to be little concept of game design or what makes Smash so great. The only Youtube content creators I don't mind are RogersBase and RelaxAlax. Alax can kinda be a douche once in awhile but Rogersbase has some good ideas.

Mainly I think Smash speculators would be better off getting their feet wet with non-Nintendo series, because a large portion of the Smash fanbase sees things in a fishbowl: blatantly good options are considered **** because they "aren't close enough to Nintendo" whereas that philosophy causes the "greatest crossover in gaming history" to crumble.

Nobody here is truly that bad, but the community itself has become bad at predicting characters despite have previous opportunities to learn.

There's a reason he's the most used character in Elite Smash.

He is very easy to pick up and use, and with his buffs in this game he's versatile in any situation. He's like Sm4sh Mario in a way. He still has weaknesses, but his huge strengths cover for that.

When you spend soo much time in an echo chamber, everything seems more likely than it is.


The Smash community has a terrible, terrible habit or regurgitating the same ten or so characters over and over again, and anything outside of those are deemed 'not likely' by the fanbase at large.


Like, I still see people say, "Would Sakurai really go to Microsoft for Minecraft Steve of all things over Banjo?" or that "X character has no ties to Nintendo so they can't be in."



As much as I love Banjo for instance, I'm also not going to throw someone like Steve under the bus just because the community as a whole wants him more.
