There was a glitch in 4's 3DS's classic mode post-Mewtwo-pre-Lucas, Roy and Ryu, where a Kirby character would sometimes be fought on Battlefield instead of a Kirby Stage(it was trying to load Dreamland 64 which wasn't available yet) though.

There was a glitch in 4's 3DS's classic mode post-Mewtwo-pre-Lucas, Roy and Ryu, where a Kirby character would sometimes be fought on Battlefield instead of a Kirby Stage(it was trying to load Dreamland 64 which wasn't available yet) though.

I mean, that happened because the game was trying to load a stage that the game though was available, but wasn't yet.

Unless there's something new I'm missing here, how does Sword/DHD having glitches prove anything?

As for the characters themselves, from what I've seen Mii Swordfighter is near universally considered as Erderick's base. Duck Hunt is more debated, with most people I've seen saying it's either Amateratsu or Lycanroc.

Even if it's true, Piranha Plant uses a character already in the game as a base, Bowser Jr. Last I checked they're completely different. Closest similarity is Fair maybe? So it's best not to go "OMG DOES THIS MEAN THIS CHARACTER I WANT IS IN?"

Playing devil's advocate because I don't believe the whole scenario, maybe it's because Joker's base is a more popular character? People would notice if Marth or Bayonetta weren't playable in All Star Smash. Duck Hunt or Mii Swordfighter could just fall through the cracks.
