I mean it’s not everything, it certainly doesn’t help when your title character, the character who’s supposedly getting the most screentime, the character that people are here to see on the big screen, appearance should be taken into consideration.

(though in these kind of films the title characters get shafted for the generic human protagonist cause clearly that’s who people are here to see, kinda not related but kinda actually, I just needed to get that out of my system.)

Well, I did't say it was nothing now, did I? I did say "as bad it may be to some". Maybe many? Anyway, I am able to see your point with that in mind.

One thing bugs me. Like I think it somehow worked for Transformers but why is it that so many movies of established IPs have to force them in the real world?

It isn't charming.

It works for Transformers because we see them interact with hoomans in the shows.

It works surprisingly well with Detective Pikachu due to a combination of both this and some actually faithful CGI.

Sonic ****s it up because they ****ed up Sonic's look, but otherwise, it could've potentially worked too because hanging out with real hoomans isn't new for that franchise.
