Yeah an MK9 wouldn't make any sense: it would barely look any better graphically than 8DX, it would be a harder sell as presumably it would start with 32 tracks opposed to 8DX's 48 and it would likely need some kind of major gimmick to differentiate itself - most the Mario Kart audience would see it and go 'what's the point, I already have Mario Kart for the Switch'?

At this point they're just going to focus on the upcoming mobile game and (hoping rather than expecting this) perhaps more DLC (which would be the ideal way to go tbh)
