That's cycle of revenge. Personally, I think it can work and that example seems to be good enough but the question is if not killing the catalyst to a later threat would have stopped the current threat.
If not killing them would just have led to more victims at that moment, then the hero was technically justified in killing them.
Police officers who kill in the line of duty often suffer from violent ptsd. They wish that they didn’t do it. That there could have been another way. And there almost always is another way.

tbf no one in the mcu besides like

peter

has a no-kill rule

they probably don't want to kill and they try to avoid it, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do
Peter Parker is just a wholesome hero in the MCU overall

How about using those same reality bending rocks to... I don’t know... turn him into a mouse? Or something else weird that can be easily imprisoned and can’t use those magic space rocks.

Hey guys, just so you have more of a reason to use Amethyst theme, I want you to consider this:

But that's just... torture...
You're advocating for torture in the place of murder?

First of all, the moral dilemma really depends on who's writing and what the medium is, for example, monsters in Power Rangers get murdered just like that and no one bats an eye, not to mention there are cases like what Josuke Higashikata does to Angelo in Diamond is Unbreakable, he doesn't kill him but he might as well be dead at that point.

Second, someone who I'm seriously considered cutting myself off has managed to convince the group I want to watch Endgame with that I'm an asshole if I want to see movies without them because that one dude threw a fit because I like going to the cinema on my own and I saw Captain Marvel without him (I already had plans with a different friend but tbf he didn't know that)

Persona 5 Story. It’s Persona 5 turned into an e-rated story book baby game ala Paper Mario.
mr. kamoshida was a mean old grouch who was always giving the kids extra homework

but when the phantom thieves say the magic word 'tralala'

he turns into the incredible Captain Underpantsu

Yeah... I used to use the default theme, then I learned about this unfortunate coincidence.

Now I use the Emerald one as I'd rather not get weird looks from others. It's pretty cool actually, it looks very og Xbox-y and I kinda dig it.

Also I remembered that Superman, the idealist superhero everyone should strive to be, imprisons Zodd and **** in the Phantom Zone in one of the movies (the good ones don't worry) so yeah it REALLY does get stretched by writers and there's not always a right answer

How? He’s actually getting to suffer consequences for his actions instead of getting to just die and get away from it?
A quick death is a lot more humane than subjecting someone to torture for the rest of their life. That's like, some body horror scenario you just suggested.

What's worse is this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

That's not how it works... that's not how any of this works.
Not to say some torture can't be well used against certain villains(Gwen brought up Angelo from DiU which works so well because Angelo tries to invoke the "heroes don't kill" on Josuke so I'll also bring up Kars too because him being frozen in space forever is some great karma and he's definitely someone who didn't deserve to simply die) but it's definitely not below killing in its level of "villain punishment".
You generally want to save the torturing for those really bad villains for full catharsis factor

But when they die there is no punishment. No Justice for the victims. They simply no longer exist.
While true, it's also false. Again, it depends on the writing, do they want a good ending or some realism? Ex-Aid had a surprisingly harsh moral on how not everyone could be saved, the main villain at that point got killed off yet the protagonist mourned him despite how the villain ruined his life.

Then again that moment got absolutely ruined when they brought him back later alongside bringing back all but 2 dead people back from the dead
EDIT: Again, no right or wrong answer
