Then I'm not quite sure... Nintendo makes some whack decisions, sometimes.

Though if I were to wager, it's because they had pretty much no other major announcement for that event.

Otherwise it would've just been Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and that's it.

That, and revealing him that soon, was probably also to avert the expectations we had with the Fighter Pass, and to just get people excited

Some speculate Nintendo was going to showcase MP4, but then the game got scrapped and development restarted. So, in order to have something for TGA, they decided to show Joker's Smash announcement instead. My thought process is that if this is true, Joker's initial reveal might not have happened until the February Direct.

They’re not going to show off Joker in a Mini-Direct and I seriously doubt they’re going to make us wait that long.

I mean, we wouldn't be in this situation had Atlus not been the one who's been pretty much strangleholding all the info.

It's absolutely ****ing wild too that Square Enix -- the one who was extremely stingy on FF content -- still left the info to Nintendo and was so willing that Cloud appeared in two Directs.

I don't think they're gonna show him at the concert, as it's not even going to be live streamed to my knowledge (if it is, it won't be for a non-Japanese audience). What will most likely happen is a Direct very shortly after, IMO. The 26th, 29th, or the 30th are my guesses, and he'll be released right after with 3.0.0.

Forget the VGAs, I guarantee you that we were supposed to get all the info about 3.0.0 plus Joker in that February Direct, but since Atlus needs to have super-duper special attention, they need Nintendo to hold it off not during March when people were supposed to get the info, but until after a Japan-exclusive Persona live concert, cause y'know, totally makes sense.

Hell, we don't even know if or when a Direct will happen this month or Jane is actually a part of Joker's alts. Especially adding on the fact that since she's a part of the whole "The Royal" version and the Best Buy listings recently only lists Persona 5 Switch as just the base game, while we've all been under the assumption Persona 5 The Royal is PS4 exclusive.

I really want to try and understand the situation, but it seems like when anything happens with Atlus, every single time I get confused. Catherine: Full Body and Classic, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and now this.

While I know the initial release date for Persona 5 in Japan (PS3) was 9/15/16, buttttt if we use the North American Release date, Persona 5 released on 4/4/17 (I missed the 2 year anniversary for it in my posts?!)

Love Persona as a series and 5 was a welcome addition in many QOL aspects and continuing the love of why I like Atlus so much (besides there famous announcement of an announcement trolling)

Brave is Erdrick's class translated to English and no other possible character has the word 'brave' be so closely associated with them. Plus DQIII basically had a Halo 3 tier launch in Japan

FIrst off, there's Verg and the rumored Square Enix character.

There's the fact that the codename "Brave" has some notable connections to Dragon Quest

And there's also the fact that Dragon Quest is a major gaming franchise over in Japan, and it just makes sense to have a juggernaut as big as that to come over to Smash

Or it could very well that Joker wasnt ready to show yet. Plus if Joker had an alt like Jane, they could just omit showing it in the trailer until later. They didnt show several alts for characters like ZSS ones until close to release.
