That ****ing Joker, the movie not the DLC character, trailer hit me RIGHT in the feels man.

Never thought we'd get such a sympathetic Joker. But then again it's Joaquin Phoenix and he can make just about any movie good.

Personally I don't think that a Joker backstory, let alone a sympathetic one, is a good idea. He's always been interesting for having a mysterious, inscrutable background, along with being unsympathetic and just plain evil. Because the standard is for villains to be sympathetic or have a tragic backstory, so Joker stands out for just being malevolent and twisted for reasons that aren't explained.

However, that trailer does look really engaging. If they manage to execute that idea well, it could be really interesting. I'd be fine with at least one movie taking a crack at a backstory for him, just to see if they do it well.

I just can't see myself getting anything out of a Switch port unless they replaced the OST with an orchestrated score. That was literally the only complaint I had about the Wii U port. HD ratio and shortening of the opening act and the general texture upgrades were all worth the price, and my Wii U is still hooked up in my bedroom. Considering I don't use my Switch portably aside from the occasional play-from-the-bed before sleep, I can already do that with the Wii U, so what else have they got?

Windwaker, likewise, already got the HD-ifying, and the best part of it-- Miiverse integration with photo mode and bottled messages-- isn't a thing anymore. So what else can they add?

In general, though, ports fill gaps in the schedule, not add to crowded months. I can see one or both Zeldas being released, say, next February or something after the Christmas rush is gone, but I see no reason for them to come out soon when Nintendo has so much lined up for 2019.

If my Wii U situation were like that, I'd be less interested in a Switch port, especially given by double investment. But the Wii U we have is the family Wii U, since the motivation, money, and opportunity to buy one never coalesced at a single point in time for me. My 8-year-old brother, and somehow the only kid in the house who likes Legend of Zelda almost as much as I do, basically owns the thing. He's actually playing through Twilight Princess right now, and this past weekend I had to help him beat the Snowpeak Ruins midboss, and help him find Skull Kid in the second visit to the Sacred Grove.

Aww man, I forgot about the Tingle Bottle. I'm glad I got to experience that before they shut down the Miiverse, it was great.

I feel like the older Legend of Zelda games have to be ported or otherwise made playable on Switch at some point, but it's a long list. Skyward Sword is increasingly inaccessible due to its hardware requirements, though Nintendo's admitted that they're not working on that right now. With the remake of Link's Awakening--perhaps the most deserving remake/port in the list--I don't think we're going to see any other Zelda games until next year at the earliest.

The reasoning is sound, but "Zelda on the go" coupled with being able to have 3/6 of the mainline 3D Zelda titles on one modern console seems more than enough.

Absolutely, but these are the same people who abandoned the Virtual Console that could've allowed for 6/6 of the mainline 3D games, so I don't have a lot of faith in that regard. The Wii U can play almost the entire Zelda library in way or another, which is astounding, but that's not what Nintendo's going for with the Switch yet. For now, they seem content to slowly trickle out the same NES games we've been able to access and play on the Wii for over a decade.

If I ever find myself wanting more of the clown prince of crime then I want a uhhhh... human version. I don't know who wrote them but some Joker panels I've seen really add to his characterization, the Killing Joke "Why aren't you laughing?" line had Joker's psyche shatter before Batman, having him think "Maybe I'm wrong". There's another panel from something where he explains how it makes sense for Gotham to be filled with so many criminals because of how awful the city as and "You'd be mad to react differently" or something, without a smile. The other one is a cheerful Joker handing his keys for someone who's frightened of him to park his car, ("It's a dangerous city and I want my car to be safe) when he realizes the dude's terrified he frowns and says "I only kill people when it's funny, it wouldn't be funny to kill you". Joker's still a psychopath but this more human characterization is very chilling as it makes us relate a bit to him, ever so slightly for it imo

Skyward Sword is the only remake aside from Link's Awakening that I'm dying to see. I love the aesthetics and the general idea of it, but I could not get past the motion controls to enjoy and finish it. To date, it's the only Zelda game I have not finished aside from the NES and CDi games.

While I understand that Nintendo likely wouldn't completely retool the game to remove the motion controls, I could see them expediting some things-- like the stupid wing flapping you had to do to get around the floating islands, God I ****ing hated that-- and having Joycons instead of Wiimotes should help with the actual motion experience. No more desyncing every 15min and less guessing as to whether or not your moves will actually hit.

I wish I could completely redo the Fire Emblem track list. SO many good tracks foregone for mediocre ones and okay remixes.

Especially now that they added vocals to some favorites in the FE Premium Arrange.
