The demo this weekend was a mess. We don't know about the full game. Honestly I found it really fun when it didn't get stuck at a loading screen. My worry is that I don't have the time anymore to commit to a Destiny-like game. I already did that once with, er, Destiny.
Had Anthem come out four years ago I'd be so much more hyped. Still unconvinced it'll have a meaningful, engaging narrative though. Which is a shame.

EA used to be good when they made The Sims 2 and 3 and Spore etc but now they’ve gone down the money hungry drain.

Thing is, this was BioWare's last chance to live. If Anthem failed, they would be shut down. I for one, won't miss Bioware. Just the fact I won't get a new KOTOR game.

I prefer it just for the character moments if anything. Goku paying a guy to kill him, Piccolo shopping with Chichi and being really protective of Pan, etc. are all really good moments and very in line with their characters, but when the animation quality drops, HOOH boy is it bad

I used to play Spore and I had more than a thousand creatures and stuff, but that is gone and I lost interest in it.

Every publisher is money hungry. Getting investors to invest by making them a bunch of money is kind of what they do.
EA has just made some startlingly bad decisions at the top. But I don't hate them. They're quite possibly the only reason we got Mass Effect 2 and the entire Dragon Age franchise. Bioware almost died off before EA picked them up and gave them more funding than they've ever had before.

Something I've been mulling over regarding Jiren; I watched a video about him recently, that pointed out that he was never the focus of the ToP; the ToP was pretty much a greatest hits version of Dragon Ball Z.
So, what I've been thinking of, Jiren is like Superman mixed with Batman (Superman's power, Batman's personality), the thing is, we're seeing him from the outside. He's a brooding loner who "works alone", just like the general perception of Batman. With Batman we get to see things from his perspective, we learn his backstory and mentality, with Jiren we got none of that, I think that was actually the point (Toei was going to give the personality that went to Toppo to Jiren until Toriyama vetoed them), he's a dark and brooding super-hero seen from an outside perspective.

That's not even remotely close to true.
Bioware is a huge part of EA's portfolio and has a wide network of employees from their Edmonton headquarters to their Austin branch responsible for the ongoing moneymaker SWTOR. They shuttered Bioware Montreal, an entirely different development studio with the Bioware name, after forming it for one poorly received Mass Effect spin-off. Unless Anthem pulls a Battleborn and not only underperforms but historically underperforms, Bioware is fine. They're actively working on new Dragon Age and Mass Effect projects that represent guaranteed revenue for EA. (For instance, despite ME:A being poorly critically received, it actually made a fair amount of money and sold around the same amount of copies as Mass Effect 3.)
So unless EA pulls an Activision and starts slashing costs in an effort to stay afloat, Bioware's not going anywhere. Plus, EA has actually raised their sales expectations over the last year for Anthem due to unexpected numbers in preorders. Treating Anthem's poor demo as a foregone conclusion that the game won't sell well is really jumping the gun.

I know. But that's clickbait for ya.
And yet they tried to make one. The Universe 11 GoD and supreme kai were definitely painted as "bad guys" in their mannerisms and language. And Jiren himself was the primary antagonist alongside Toppo. No other universe ever poses a legitimate threat to our heroes outside of Kefla-- and we all knew that Kefla wasn't going to beat Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Frieza.
The fact that this was a battle royale tournament was purely fluff to get more characters involved. But that's a good setup, though, since finally Dragonball found a way to get away from a series of one-on-one death matches with a bunch of underpowered characters sitting idly by. But the setup was still the same as any other DB arc: There's a really powerful villain with underlings and the Z fighters have to band together, grow stronger and wait for Goku to defeat him. The problem with Jiren is that his motivation is the same as anyone else-- win the tournament-- and his backstory is shoved in through an unnecessary flashback to a generic sad kid story.
Power levels are bull****.

we really don't know how much training actually affects the androids. 18 gave it up to become a mom so 17 training for 12 years straight could have given him a significant power boost. Hell, Frieza was on SSB level after only 4 months of training.
