also at least verge's constant kencineroar helped keep peoples expectations slightly down during grinch leak, so that was nice i guess

God I hated the Tournament of Power in Dragonball Super. I was avoiding spoilers for the show until its late dub came out, but every time I logged into Youtube there'd be an immediate, big ****ing spoiler with accompanying image on my feed for that week's episode.

Soon as I saw "17 stronger than Ultimate Gohan??" I decided **** it and watched it subbed. I already knew everything that happened up to that point anyway.

Well, obviously if something that would have been a big final reveal in a different series is the first thing to be told to you, everything that comes after must be way more surprising.

I prefer GT. But I have to admit that Super's high moments were very high moments. And when the animation team that week felt like actually trying, it looked dazzling.

The Tournament of Power's plot just plays out like really bad fanfiction with no discernible goal or fleshed out villain. But on a first view it's full of unexpected twists and turns. I can get why people were hyped. I just think it won't age well and people will start to look back on GT more fondly over time.
