I mean, that’s a valid argument, but Joker is still being released during April. And it would be weird to just drop an update that adds whole entire modes without some sort of announcement
TBH I half expect them to drop a trailer on YT like they previously did with Splatoon updates and Kirby updates.

Eeeeehhhhh maybe? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I personally just don't see it happening when E3 is that close at that point.

I would love to be wrong, as I enjoy Directs a ton and getting one more before E3 would be nice.
What, you think there’s just going to be a twitter post saying we’re getting two whole modes?

TBH I half expect them to drop a trailer on YT like they previously did with Splatoon updates and Kirby updates.
Wow. What poor timing on my part.

E3 is that close at that point.
i keep seeing this come up but i don't quite get it; E3 is two months from april, and still 1.5 from a supposed april 25-ish direct

mewtwo came out on 28th april 2015 (for wider release), lucas/roy/ryu came out 14th june around e3 2015

a two-month gap means a lot in development terms

it makes way more sense to hold off on Erdrick for then IMO.
*Cough*Steve*Cough*

Also do you want people to keep waiting through a drought? April's a good time and schedule to reveal the next DLC fighter given the whole February 2019-February 2020 which lines up perfectly.

April: DLC Fighter 2 (Releases June)
June: DLC Fighter 3 (Releases August-September)
August-September: DLC Fighter 4 (Releases December)
December: DLC Fighter 5 (Releases February 2020)

If we”re talking Ultimate reveals? Easily the veterans reveal. For newcomers, probably K. Rool just because it was so surreal seeing him in game after so many years and years of people talking about how he’d be.
The best Ultimate newcomer? Well you all know that by now.

How K. Rool fans reacted ^

Honestly kind of wack how Scoob and Shag went from a ****post parody comic to a fullblown ****post shonen action comic and the transition to it was incredibly smooth

I still think it would be weird not to show a direct.

Also, keep in mind, they could easily show off a brief glimps at FeMC and Sakurai says “wait, what’s this? Tune in to the Persona 5 event on the 24th to find out!”

In terms of Ultimate's reveal trailers:
Inkling's introduced us to Ultimate, but that sort of overshadowed their inclusion in the game
"Everyone is Here" was amazing, but they really dropped the ball in not having Snake tell us that he kept us waiting smh
Ridley's was pretty much perfect
The Belmonts' was really creative, perhaps the best reveal trailer they've done tbh
K Rool's was a lot of fun, and the build up for it was great
While Isabelle was a perfectly fine addition, her trailer wasn't good
Ken + Incineroar's trailer was actually really fun (love the bit at the end with Villager et al lining up to fight); shame it will forever be tarnished with killing people's dreams

Ken and Incineroar trailer wise was probably my favorite but I was pretty much fuming with dissapointment during that and Pirhana Plant so it was honestly anti-hype

For Smash 4, Cloud and Bayonetta were the only hype ones for me because leaks.

For Smash U, Everyone is here was the most hype with the King K. Belmont direct following close behind. Kencineroar was underwhelming and Isabelle made me mad.

That's a good point, I had forgotten about that.

It's not that I don't want one or that I think it's unreasonable to expect one, I'm just a little unsure myself and as such not expecting one personally. I'll be very happy to be wrong if we do get one, though.

Ultimate newcomers overall were fine. I was only seriously excited for Isabelle and Joker. It also had the only disappointing reveals in the series for me but I'm over it now.

I loved Ken's reveal mostly because he looked miles better than in Street Fighter V.

Seeing Ken in the animated cutscenes felt fantastic.

And Incineroar was a great pick just because it made my friend from Madrid (who is a hardcore but cool Pokémon fan) happy as hell.

In terms of most hype Ultimate reveals, it's probably the announcement of the game itself. It still gives me goosebumps to this day

But if we're talking newcomers, it's :ultincineroar:. A fire cat starter was one of my most wanted Pokemon for a while, as I love cats, and I usually preferred the fire starters. I finally got my wish it with Litten in Sun and Moon. I picked him, evolving him all the way to an Incineroar. And tbh, not a lot of the Ultimate newcomers clicked for me, so seeing my dream Pokemon becoming a reality, then making it's way to Smash gave me a bit of the feels.

Same. That goes to Chrom, for me, but it might be different for many others because... well you know.

My most hype reveal was Olimar but I know he's often cited for the 'Smash never ends on big reveals' so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I miss the Dojo days

TBH I really hope they go out with a bang and destroy the "Smash never ends on a Hype Reveal" theory

I literally jumped from excitement with Dark Samus' reveal.

It caught me off guard.

For people who predicted a character would get in that subsequently got in: were your ideas about their reveal trailer (if they actually got one) close to the mark? Coming up with smash reveal trailers is something a lot of us do, so I'd be interested to see who made good calls

I don't remember many people suggesting Luigi's mansion would be part of the Simon reveal, but I could be wrong

Only Ultimate reveal I disliked was Ken. The rest were golden: Inkling was my most wanted and Isabelle was my third most wanted, so I was pretty good. :dr^_^:

Sure, I got salty after the box was proven right, but TBH I was being incredibly immature and whiny. Looking back, nothing about this game truly bothered me outside of Ken and the online.

The problem with that is hype subjective and there's no way one reveal can satisfy everyone. A lot of people will place their long-term hopes into that last reveal and get unreasonably salty when reality doesn't match to their baseless fantasies.

My idea for a K. Rool trailer was DK saving Mario from Bowser’s attack, bowser flops on his face, he is helped up by a green scaley arm, boom King K. Rool!

Also, I expected his final smash to be cannon ball rain.

technically they didn't cuz he was the first Fighter Pass reveal
I didn't want to pull this card but you left me with no choice. The second bang was:

It made a lot of people mad, but no one expected him to ever be in and it practically raptured the internet and speculation scene.
