The way I see it, release dates are probably gonna go like this:
they probably revealed joker first because of promotional reasons, since p5 is super popular basically everywhere while dq is mostly known in japan so if they were to reveal a big third party character at a mainly western event, and they had joker and erdrick at around the same stage of development, they would probably reveal him over erdrick and save erdrick for a later date
plus P5 was heavily prominent at TGA 2017, so it kinda came full circle
I still love the bayonetta trailer. It was like a troll for the first few seconds. You think it’s gonna be some lame Kid Icarus character and then it’s freakin BAYONETTA! I was super hyped.

Showing Erdrick no matter what is going to be a resounding ehhhhh. Just without a live audience to react to it.
Tbh even if Fates isn’t very good I still kinda think of Corrin as the mascot of the modern era of FE.

I meam yeah, that's the basic idea "comedy films are the film genre with the most number of minorities but they're also the one with the least positive depictions of them". But I don't want to just say that, I want to go indepth and to go over most depictions... oh boy. There's just a lot to talk about but not in a good way.

Who isn't predicting this is my question? We don't know anything about Joker's fighter pass or how he plays, they have an entire update to cover with potentially two returning game modes, and then they have a long-awaited newcomer to be announced in the fourth month of 2019. We're getting a direct, no doubt.

Corrin came from a mediocre game and a series debated as overrepresented. Erdrick is coming from a new series, and that series has status and a ton of quality games in it that Nintendo seems to plan on localizing even further since Dragon Quest 9. The two aren't comparable.
I would want him just for the sake of having another playable villain.
No doubt. But as the final DLC character for Smash Ultimate you can’t deny he would have been pretty underwhelming.
And my screams will be heard alongside those too.
I lurk on Twitter, and I love what some artists are capable of, especially Japanese artists. I'm excited to see all of the Erdrick fanart that'll spread the love.

Hades being reduced to Spirit/Trophy two games in a row and not even being in the Guidances is a ****in SIN. Hades is probably my second most wanted villain, behind Porky/Masked Man.
Yeah, no. Corrin came from a pre-existing frachise in Smash and was from a game that yet to be released out of Japan.
I don’t think so. I mean sure, she’ll have her fans. But a lot of people, specially in the green parts of not-Japan, are not gonna have a clue who they are and just not have any hype for the character. It’s no where NEAR as bad as Corrin, but unless we get a much bigger dud later down the line I’m confident she’ll be the lackluster one this time.
I prefer shorter waits, TBH. If a Direct is coming, I'd rather not know until a day or two before as usual for a Nintendo announcement.
You can get hyped for a character even if you don't know them, tbf.

You mean two characters that a lot of people were really super hyped for? I admit I was in a different corner of the internet when they debuted so I probably had a very different experience with them. But they were only characters people started hating after they came out, from my perspective.
Why? We have a huge update and a character reveal all dropping in April! Why wouldn’t there be a direct for it?

Tbf, the only reveal I could imagine finding awkard for me is Doomguy.
