since we're all dropping hot takes i personally think that actually edelgard would be decently rad

It's not that I think she would be a bad addition, but whenever I see someone defend her, they usually say something along the lines of "She could be one of the most unique characters on the roster".

Honestly, that could apply to a lot of characters who aren't in Smash yet. FE has gotten treated fairly well in recent years, and while I hate admitting this here, there probably isn't a single FE character you could add who wouldn't at least slightly disappoint me. I'm kinda burnt out, and I'd rather see a different franchise take one of those coveted five spots.

Just a hot take of my own though, and I know hating on FE is a disliked cliche for this thread.

I’m still dissapointed at how little rep Evil Ryu gets in Smash. Like, not only does he not have a Spirit, and none of Ryu’s alts resemble him, but even Ken has an alt that resembles Violent Ken, and in classic modes like Mewtwo and Dark Samus where they need an evil SF character, they always go for Violent Ken because of that color which is super strange because he had never shown up in a non-CVS game until Ultra SFII. Just gimme my Evil Ryu alt

Like I get this one but the Luigi that becomes Mr.L is not the main line Luigi its Paper Luigi who is a different person.

Its not like say who is just an avatar for all of the plants regardless of series

There was a period of time in Smash 4 when he played frequently, and during that time I remembered that existed, and so one day when he was playing , I picked , and it broke his mind a bit. He had no idea what was going on, or if I had modded the game or something. And then I actually managed to beat him, and would continue to do so occasionally. He was never happy when that happened.

Unfortunately, he no longer plays , and / kinda sucks in this game, apparently, so I've had less success with and there's been no opportunity for mind games.

Gosh, I love what Project M did with alts. I still dream that we'll get this level of lovingly crafted fan service officially someday.

Morpho Knight was Meta Knight's beta design, so it kind of has everything to do with him.

Considering costumes are a great way to make references to different games, I'm surprised it took five entries to really start getting them in Smash. I'm quite pleased with what ultimate has added so far, but any more would be amazing.

That's just me but I think they took the quantity over quality route. Most of them look unprofessional (especially FE ones) and retro/Melee ones are straigh-up uncanny valley territory.

The reason Alph is still a costume and not an echo is because he’s Olimar’s echo fighter.
