And they'd work really well as an Ice Climbers echo, too. They'd just use Rocks instead of Ice, so basically, it wouldn't freeze opponents, but instead would launch them farther than the Ice Climbers' moves!

I recently copped up Cave Story + since it's $14.99 right now. Now I see why people say this is the "Grandfather of Indie Games", it definitely feels like it.
The music, characters, everything feels... "right at home"? I JUST got it, so I'm still starting out.

That being said, I wouldn't mind whoever is the main character in Smash in the slightest. Y'all really don't know how hard the music in that game goes, man. A remix of some of the Cave Story songs? Mannn.

I’m not sure why a generic enemy would work as a 3rd party pick.

When you have the option to have one of your characters cross over, why would you pick a blank slate generic character? Despite being a mascot, Chocobo and Slime are one of many who look just like the many others if the same class of enemy/NPC.

If you look at most (If not all) gaming crossovers, it’s a character that has their own personality, and is...well, them. It’s more compelling if you choose a character that people have specifically experienced the story of, or have made connections with.

But whatever. I’m pretty confident that all 3rd parties will be specific characters from the company. Sakurai could go for a generic enemy/character from a Nintendo game, such as Piranha Plant. But from another company that involved Nintendo paying to use, and Square Enix to agree to? Doubtful imo.

Glad to see you're enjoying Cave Story. It's a really good game that most people seem to have forgotten about nowadays. I still believe that Cave Story would be a better indie rep than Shovel Knight, mostly because of how it started the indie frenzy, carrying so much history (no pun intended) with it. The main character name is Quote by the way.

I'm seriously not holding my breath for a second fighter pass. I want it desperately, but it's not happening. Nintendo doesn't do second waves, as far as I know. They announce what DLC will entail from beginning to end from the get-go. That's just how they roll. Sakurai told us all the DLC will be on the fighter pass, so that's what I'm expecting.

It should. Furthermore, I think it should be all 1st parties. I may be biased, I generally don't care about 3rd parties, but Season 1 looks to be 3rd Parties exclusively. A second season having Nintendo characters would make both distinct and people would be more willing to buy both.

If I had to guess what an all 1st party pass would be, I'd guess...
