Ah, I see. I figured something was up with those codenames. Three new characters out of the blue didn't seem right for the story the game was going for. So that explains why Geras wasn't in the leak.

Because ever since the Direct I felt his chances kind of dropped and people probably may had been confusing that for Dai's inclusion in Jump Force.

Regardless of how the rumors turn out, I don't think this line of thinking makes any sense. Being confused for a different character in a different game by a different publisher is a real stretch.

That, and Tansut (the guy who leaked Cloud) alleged that they weren't far into development and had male and female versions. Now whether that ends up being true is up in the air, but I think it shows that the Smash stuff is its own rumor.

I feel like committing that much time in a direct to DQ and not announcing a DQ character for Smash hurts his chances quite a bit.

Worth mentioning they teased more info on DQ to come. But even then out of all the characters announced for Smash 4 and Ultimate, how many of them debuted alongside new info for their games? And why before we get a proper look at Joker?

I don't know how the rumors will pan out but I think some people are eager to dismiss them for one reason or another.

I was getting pretty confident about his inclusion (probably a good 80% of us were, if they're being honest), but to have that fairly large DQ section (Builders & XI), but no DLC announcement does kinda put a damper on things.

Then again, it may just be me being hopeful and trying to hold out, but we once again got nothing on Joker; a character we already know about. We got half a character model; just his coat and hair essentially; we couldn't see anything from the front. And the only accompaniment to that was 'Version 3.0 will be out sometime before April ends'. They may feel like they 'jumped the gun' with Joker (likely because Sakurai was so excited for him) and showed him off well before they had what they needed and decided to take it slower with the next reveal; not showing them off until there's something to actually show.

If I had to guess, we'll get another direct shortly before Joker's release that will show off his gameplay (in order to entice those who are still on the fence about him or people who want to see how he plays before deciding) as well as the announcement (along with a short gameplay teaser) for our next person. That way, while the wait may still be long, we'd at least have something to go on for the next character.

Yeah. I'm sure every leak from here out will have some Square character other than Erdrick/Luminary or just not predict the Square character at all. My confidence in a DQ rep may have waned, but I still thing it's got a lot going for it and I do feel like we're going to get another Square character. I'll hope for Crono as well, but I don't place his chances very high compared to the other Square choices.

To make a quick note on the leak, they use the Japanese names for the programming on the website, even the US version. It wouldn't be spelled Crono but Chrono, the official name of the character in Japan. Same reason why it's spelled Gekkouga, Shizue, and Reflet.

I don't really find the leak noteworthy that said. It looks like an easy photoshop job to me. But at least they got all the names correct. Unless I missed different names for the rest of them in Japan(Agumon and Chrono are accurate). Is Reimu and Banjo & Kazooie a different name in Japan? If so, then they clearly screwed up and didn't do enough research. If they're all the correct names, then at least they put some effort into the leak(assuming it's fake).

You mean Link? That's his Japanese name too. It's just done differently due to Romanization. We have tons like Purin as well.

The names are all still their correct Japanese names. Saying they're spelling it wrong is ridiculous. Both Crono and Chrono are 100% correct spellings. It's a meaningless thing to bring up when you realize that the website could use either, but often defaults to Japanese names. If the name is a literal translation in English(like Mars/Marth), they have gone for the US name. There's no way to say they'd use Crono over Chrono. There's hard proof they use the Japanese spellings too. In other words, while you have a slight point, it's not enough to remotely hurt the leak.

Not really, Smash was pretty much a footnote in the direct and I doubt they'd take the time to say "btw, Erdrick's coming too!" when they haven't even touched on Joker outside of a model preview. Also, Jump Force and Smash Ultimate are two completely different games made by completely different teams with both characters having differing origins (one's from a manga while the other's from a classic NES game), I don't think any leaker who's remotely aware of the situation would mix up the two like that.

This here is a Pig. Sus Scrofa Domesticus. It is capable of many things the least of which being able to produce many many delicious dishes. However for the sake of our arguement we will really only focus on three parts. As you can see Ham comes off the Leg end, but it is not necessarily just a leg. Hams are Cured and sometimes even smoked to preserve their shelf life as opposed to just being just a raw leg of pig. You may wonder where Bacon comes into play. Well you see on this map just under the ribs is the belly which is where we Americans get our cuts of bacon from. The Brish and Irish however take their bacon off the Back of the animal as a byproduct of Fatback or Lard. And Canadian Bacon? Well see thats where its interesting. What is sold s Canadian Bacon can either be one of two things. Either it can be round British/Irish style Back Bacon which it is most of the time, OR it could be Pork Loin that has been cured and smoked as if it WAS bacon. The point being
BACON =/= HAM
