You mean Link? That's his Japanese name too. It's just done differently due to Romanization. We have tons like Purin as well.

The names are all still their correct Japanese names. Saying they're spelling it wrong is ridiculous. Both Crono and Chrono are 100% correct spellings. It's a meaningless thing to bring up when you realize that the website could use either, but often defaults to Japanese names. If the name is a literal translation in English(like Mars/Marth), they have gone for the US name. There's no way to say they'd use Crono over Chrono. There's hard proof they use the Japanese spellings too. In other words, while you have a slight point, it's not enough to remotely hurt the leak.

What does this have to do with Link? He's not even in the leaked picture.
Also, no, Crono is his English name, that's what the game and all other official naterials call him. "Chrono" is not a correct spelling and calling him that would be the same as calling Robin "Reflet" in English.

To make a quick note on the leak, they use the Japanese names for the programming on the website, even the US version. It wouldn't be spelled Crono but Chrono, the official name of the character in Japan. Same reason why it's spelled Gekkouga, Shizue, and Reflet.

I don't really find the leak noteworthy that said. It looks like an easy photoshop job to me. But at least they got all the names correct. Unless I missed different names for the rest of them in Japan(Agumon and Chrono are accurate). Is Reimu and Banjo & Kazooie a different name in Japan? If so, then they clearly screwed up and didn't do enough research. If they're all the correct names, then at least they put some effort into the leak(assuming it's fake).

Reimu and Banjo-Kazooie are still known as their English names. Reimu Hakurei = 博麗 霊夢, Banjo & Kazooie = バンジョーとカズーイ.

Besides that, the picture is just showing the website coding names over where the slots would be. It's definitely not what the website display would be. Which also means it's intentionally a photoshop to illustrate the point, and isn't any kind of proper picture leak of sorts. Likewise, this also means it's still a text leak entirely, and really should be taken with a grain of salt. It just lacks anything that kills it. Doesn't mean it's a highly believable leak as it lacks any real evidence for it too.

So curious question? Are everyone still confident in Erdrick's chances being in Smash?

Because ever since the Direct I felt his chances kind of dropped and people probably may had been confusing that for Dai's inclusion in Jump Force.

I'm leaning towards a 65% chance for Erdrick.

He has a ton of stuff going for him like DQ's relationship with Nintendo, DQ's Legacy, Square wanting to push DQ to the west, how DQ is massive in Japan and how Insiders are all claiming it's Erdrick. He has a ton of stuff going for him and yet it's weird they didn't show him in the Direct when they were hyping DQ up, I personally wouldn't hype DQ up and then wait months before showing Erdrick off, I would do it right away since it wouldn't be in the Public's mind by then. And Verge got bamboozled plus SF:Grand Prix being leakbait Erdrick has the possibility to be leakbait too, So it's anyone's guess right now.

I would still say Erdrick is the most likely Square rep but he isn't the all powerful, untouchable, 100% garunteed to be in character we thought he was.

yea tbh, we have to remember that though se is fine with letting saks pick his own characters (they were surprised that he chose cloud over a newer ff character) but they probably, like, still want a sizeable amount of money. cloud is incredibly iconic and they probably knew he would sell well AND promote his still-alive franchise. characters like crono are only iconic and even more obscure characters like geno are neither

Chrono: Never played Chrono Trigger so neutral

Banjo: One of my most wanted right now

Reimu: Nevey played Touhou, but would like to see the song selection

Agumon: If Graizen is happy, then its good enough to me

Honestly, if Reimu and Banjo & Kazooie were to be on the website, Reimu would be stylized in katakana with the rest of the characters as "レイム", and Banjo & Kazooie like how Pikmin & Olimar are stylized, "バンジョー&カズーイ". If you see THOSE katakana writings, then we might have to do a double take real quick. Other than that, they did their research, but didn't go the extra mile.

Worth noting that, since we aren't/weren't supposed to see the names of the Fighters Pass fighters, they might have used the Japanese names without translation because they were just testing the layout to make sure it doesn't break with the extra 5 characters or something mundane like that.

Yeah... I'm back to being more skeptical over Erdrick compared to the pre-Direct period.

The fact that they dedicated a huge portion of the Direct to DQ alone... and they didn't announce Erdrick right then and there is... kinda weird.

I'm 50/50 on his chances. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the Square rep, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't either.

Something I’ve noticed about this “leak” is the convenient timing of it. Think about it:

1. Does not have Erdrick or Steve, the two characters GameFAQS has been spouting over
2. Comes after the direct, when a lot of insiders took a cred hit
3. Has 2 off the wall characters

So it seems like a timing “leak” over anything else...

Yup, it's ending this year at season 9. I've been watching since season 3, and it's been one heck of a ride. I'll miss it, but I'm happy they're going out on a high note.

Gen 5 of MLP start in 2021 with a new CG animated movie. I'm intrigued to see where they take the new series.

I just watched the Titanic...

I thought the gem scene was stupid. It is nice to throw your gem in remembrance, but you could have used that for your children.
Overall, it was quite sad. I really liked the Titanic heaven scene though.

No, it's the EN-US website that they found the supposed coding on. Which is the same on every website. So Reflect is on all 20-some versions of the site, as is Shizue. Etc. Chrono or Crono would be in the website coding. But when you look at the Fighter Pages, it will only show Crono to us(unless they decide to go with his Japanese spelling entirely in the English version of Smash, which is possible).

...No they're not? Shizue is her name in the coding. That's her Japanese name properly translated into English. Just like how Chrono is spelled in English. He was localized as Crono for a different reason. That has nothing to do with the actual Website's coding. At this point, it feels like it's entirely going over your head. I can't explain it better. But I'll try.

The website's coding does not match every single name that is displayed on every version of the site. When you click the English version of the site and go to the Fighter's section, it will always display Isabelle. However, the website's coding will always say Shizue. The website's coding, if this leak is true, will always say Chrono. His character name when you see it displayed on the website would still be Crono, however. They're extremely different things. Website coding =/= Website's actual displayed name. It makes perfect sense to use Chrono like many other names that use the Japanese one. It's the name he was supposed to have anyway. Localization just had an issue as is and was forced to adhere to the programming.
