A big leak happened with the steam achievements , not all characters were shown, but a majority were. Though there is a slight chance the roster might expand much like the stage roster did.

Kinda hoping some of that was fake. The leaked list is a bit on the 'meh' side, and missing quite a few big names. A part of me is wondering if NRS sent Steam a list of fakes after they accidentally leaked Erron, since he leaked first and then the rest came up.

I'm still waiting to see. We also have seen some background screens and footage that heavily imply Johnny and Kitana, yet neither of them are on the leaked list...

I think Killed Instinct 2013 established Jago as the fairly definitive main character, but it’s not like anybody really plays Killer Insticnt for the story.

Nightmare's the big character that just makes grunting sounds.
Heihachi is the rep of the other biggest fighting game franchise, like Link to Mario.
Morrigan is the female lead of a beloved series that has never sold up to its hype.
Terry's Captain Falcon, **** it.
Ragna and Sol are like Pokemon. Very Japanese and they have to be in.

I gave up trying to find similarities with Akira, Scorpion and Kasumi. I just plugged them into the spots that were left.

The problem with Netherrealm and their games is that they just have fundamentally bad animation.

This video pretty much explains what the issues with it are and there's also other videos on Injustice 2 which suffers the same issues.

Y'know, Fulgore was next but I didn't want to take anyone out for him. I picked Sakura to be Ryu's Luigi since she also rep'd Rival Schools.

I almost slid Morrigan into Sakura's place and put Fulgore where Samus should be but thought, **** it.

NRS games always felt really clunky to me.

Like... everything was stiff.


This is never helped by the animations of the games.

They've definitely improved from what I keep seeing from MK11. I grew up with MK games, but then I grew out of them for a bit in favor of Street Fighter and SNK fighters. But I've come back after the hiatus.

MK11 to me definitely looks like the most visually appealing fighting game in a long time.(Yes, more so than Fighterz, I said it.) Honestly a lot of them are kind of ugly. Not to say that NRS games looked so pretty before, MK9 and especially Injustice look very dated. MKX is an improvement, but it still has problems that stick out like the female bodies being way too skinny looking and some of the animations being off. Injustice 2 looks pretty great, but again some of the characters are weirdly animated in combat.

MK11 so far has fixed a lot of my gripes before. The female ninjas don't dress like strippers(And yes, I know people are sad about that.), no running which I like even though I got used to it for combos(Which was really annoying at first), and the meta just seems more strategic than MKX was. MKX being almost pure rushdown and long ass combos.

It came from Steamdb, so it could only be fake if the devs deliberately put out a red herring. Which so far doesn't seem to be the case. Johnny is definitely in. Geras is in and he's not on the list either. Same likely goes for Kitana and Kung Lao. Also the three mystery names are pretty much up in the air for what they even are.

I feel like committing that much time in a direct to DQ and not announcing a DQ character for Smash hurts his chances quite a bit.

Who knows though. Nintendo makes all kinds of weird*** marketing decisions.

Yes, I'm still pretty confident.
Having several insiders put their money on Erdrick and the datamine showing "Brave" while someone from Nintendo retweets "Brave's Shield" chances are it's still Erdrick.

The belief that anyone could have their info mixed up and believe that the DQ character was actually Dai getting into Jump Force seems far less likely.

If anything, that Direct increased his likeness, imo...
The fact that they gave a port of a game it's own spotlight, was very interesting, indeed...

Also, you gotta remember that Dragon Quest is just about synonymous with gaming in Japan. Why would they want to pass it up?

And, who said Dai being in Jump Force hurt his chances? They're still technically two different characters from two different mediums.

A dev build revealed that Geras was actually TER at some point.
