So before Three Houses releases, I wanna play a FE game to completion to get hyped for it. I don't have time to really commit to playing more than one, though, since I'm cutting back on videogames for the next few months for our Youtube channel.

Here are the candidates:
  • Awakening, just 'cause I really like it and can switch the parents/kids around again. Beaten it four times though.
  • Shadows of Valentia, because I've only beaten it once. Really like it though.
  • Path of Radiance because I started a new playthrough shortly before moving out in August and never actually went back to continue it.
  • Thracia 776 because that game is ****ing hard and, I dunno, give myself a challenge that makes Three Houses easy by the time I get to it.
  • Shadow Dragon because it's the best version of the original.
Thoughts, FE fans? Opossum Opossum got any input?

EDIT: Just to clarify, I have beaten all of these once before. I know what they're like. I just can't decide which experience I want before Three Houses drops.

Awakening

Anyways, what's this I've been hearing about Persona 5's creator being a homophobe?

PoR, you've already beaten Awakening and SoV

He's been exhibiting far more transphobia than homophobia actually

2x Awakening our of those choices that you’ve listed. I’ve beat it too many times I’ve lost count, so gooood.

Path of Radiance is by far the best one you have in that list.
Awakening and Shadow Dragon are great too, but don't punish yourself by playing Shadows of Valentia

Oh, I should've been clearer. I've beaten all of these. I've beaten every FE game released in English once, and every SNES romhack once. The only games I've beaten more than once are Ike's games, Awakening and Sacred Stones.

I had to use a guide to help me through parts of Thracia 776, so a part of me wants to challenge myself to beat it sans-guides. But at the same time, I like the more modern ones more. And I really do think I'm leaning Shadows of Valentia, even though it's so different. I really enjoyed that game.

Awakening and Fates are the only Fire Emblem games that I've finished. Awakening is godlike but Fates on the other hand...

Quick question,
Does that include Binding Blade? It's not in English nor a SNES game.

Well either way, Tear Ring Saga is apparently really good, though I have no experience with it myself.

Valentia so you can be excited about the same level of presentation. It is SO great to have a fully voiced Fire Emblem game

I propose something different:

Let's put Corrin in Three Houses, but this time written better and great so more people finally like her.
Let's not do that I'm ****ing tired of Corrin, they ****ed them up their entire game, that's on them, and I'm not inclined to give them, what, a fourth chance?

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a challenge, go Thracia or Shadow Dragon H5 as the former game will always deliver in that regard while the latter is no slouch itself. If you're looking for something more leisurely, go Path of Radiance or Awakening since they're not hard games and are very enjoyable to play through while still offering some good strategy at points.

While we're on the topic, it's sad that Mario+Rabbids is the best Mario RPG since 2003.

Oh **** right, that wasn't in English. Yeah that was the first ROM hack I played actually. I've got it on a GBA cartridge I bought in Columbus.

I think this post won me over. I'mma go for SoV.
Unless I change my mind.

No but Fates has 3 versions, I assume Luigi's played them all, bless her.

Also I know we all love ****ting on Fates hut I REALLY hope they keep the personal skills everyone had, it's such a great idea helps make every unit feel more unique
I don't think I coulda mentally handled Birthright
I did complete Nohr and Revelations though
However Corrin's been just as bland ever since

I actually really enjoyed Fates, though

What if teenage versions of all the past Fire Emblem lords school at this achademy. And they're just extra characters off to the side. I mean, it's not like Fire Emblem has any sort of shared collective timeline.

A great chance to try with Corrin again.

I want to believe that the character can be saved.

The 3ds had some great RPGs. I'm glad the Switch is getting some too. I'm planning on playing FF 7 for the first time.

Mario has a more sensible timeline than Fire Emblem.

Hohohoho, you are in for a real treat my friend. Immerse yourself into that game as much as you can and don’t rush it. That and Legends of Dragoon made me fail chemistry, twice.

Not gonna lie, Corrin is waifu material. I mean just...
That's just the icing on the cake...

She's a blast to use in Smash, and probably has the most fun moveset, out of the entire roster...

I understand she's controversial in Fates, itself, but Smash Bros Corrin is excellent in almost every way...

I never completed Birthright. Started with Conquest and going to Birthright after that felt like such a regression.

After playing through Revelations, that felt like a microcosm of all of Fate's problems, from the character interactions feeling even more fan-fiction-y to the often very gimmicky maps to the wtf story. I can't say I didn't enjoy playing through Fates once, but I can say that nothing really stuck to me after playing it aside from the character designs. There were a lot of characters I visually liked and I wish I liked the overall game better so I could enjoy them again.

But I don't think I'm ever going to go back and finish that Birthright playthrough. Probably done with Fates completely. Which is unfortunate since I bought it digitally thinking I'd want to play it over and over like I did Awakening.
