Astral Chain looks amazing. It's Xenoblade, Bayonetta, and Jojo rolled into one. I am intrigued. VERY intrigued.

That is a little stupid in my opinion, I mean... Didn't Piranha Plant have Palutena Guidance?
He was done in advance, so they still had the voice actors.

For the DLC characters, they'd have to rehire them again, which would be a lot of hassle...

But hey, here's hoping Joker gets a Phantom Thieves conversation thing, assuming the Persona 5 voice actors were in his reveal trailer

I still wouldn't expect it, but I can dream

I don't even want to talk about the direct...
So... um...
Ruby Gloom was a thing, and that's something I want to talk about. Does anyone else remember it?

I meeeeeeeeean, it is and isn't to be blunt.

The basic code of the Smash 4 one's already in the files. They'd probably just need to adjust it to make it more akin to Brawl's.
Yeah, but I guess it depends on whether they upgraded it or not and if they did, how much.

I barely remember it. Though, not sure if I can talk about it, it didn't left a big impact on me. plus I only know characters' localized names

How can you not love this direct?
I liked Mario Maker 2 and the Zelda stuff. The latter half of the Direct after the Dragon Quest stuff kinda bored me to tears.

It soft-confirmed a Smash Direct soon though, so there's that.

Personal thoughts on the direct overall, now that I've had time to sleep on it:

+ Mario Maker 2 looks ****ing great and could end up being my GOTY, depending on how Animal Crossing or Gen 8 (which I have lower expectations for) turn out. The new features - not just the slopes - prove they listened to feedback and are much more than slapped on additions, so it's not just a low-effort port. This could have the potential to have the Switch's best online experience. V hyped for June.
+ Link's Awakening looks good. I really enjoyed the original and like the artstyle of the new one. Plus it's been a while since I last played a 2D Zelda, so am looking forward to this.
+ Even though it's not my cup of tea, Three Houses seems to have got a positive reception, so that's always good to see
+ Haven't played it yet, but Tetris 99 unironically sounds really fun
+ Based Koizumi was presenting again

- No Pikmin information was a little disappointing. 4 will always be my most anticipated Switch game, but even a port of 3 would have been something. Oh well.
- It was refreshing for Smash not to have the focus, but I'd have liked to have seen just a little more.
- The middle parts of the direct dragged a bit, with a slight RPG overload. And while I think they're getting better at it, Nintendo still has a habit in directs of going into too much details on features or on lore which could be explained afterwards.

Overall though, good direct - 7/10

Now the question is when the next Smash direct will be and when Pokemon's gonna get its direct

I think my biggest problem was how many games I just couldn't have cared about were all back to back instead of spread out it felt:

Star Link: Eh
Dead by Daylight: Eh
REALISTIC RACING: Ehhhhhhhhhh
Assassin Creed 3: Meh
That one survival horror game: Eh

The new Platinum game, Link's Awakening, DQ11 and Mario Maker 2 were great, but there was also a ton of meh for me.

Honestly I came here for FE and I left with Astral Chain and Link's Awakening so it's a plus from me

Has anyone realized that with Link Awakening remake coming to Switch, Wart (from Super Mario Bros 2) is going to be in game in 3D for first time?

Ok I'm gonna take a break from fanboying over Astral Chain and Fire Emblem: Claude edition and say that Oninaki actually looks pretty damn good

Happy Mario Maker 2 was finally announced. With how well it went over for Wii U, I knew it was only a matter of time. It's coming when nothing else is going to be out for me, too; so I don't need to destroy my bank account during that time.

MUA 3 (Marvel Ultimate Alliance; not going to spell it out from here out lol) looked much better than the original Game Awards showing; it looked almost like the original PS2 graphics when they first showed it, so I'm happy it looks a little better. 1 and 2 (as well as X-Men Legends series) all had a huge cast of characters, so I'm eager to see who we can be.

I've always been interested in Link's Awakening since it looked pretty good, but I'm not really a fan of the cutesy graphics; I thought the older look was much better, so I'm not too sure I'll actually get this. I may just play the original in something that rhymes with 'speculator'.

Other than that there wasn't much for me. I already beat DQ XI to its fullest extent and while having the Orchestrated soundtrack is nice, it alone is not enough to warrant it. I can guess where the extra story comes from and none of it should really be that long even when going through every character, so that isn't too much of a draw either.

I can't say I disliked the direct, because it gave me a little (and half a character model along with a release window for Joker which I hoped for as a bare minimum) so I can just say 'it was ok'.

Mario Maker 2 looks really impressive honestly. Rising/sinking water, slopes, scrolling stages, on/off switches, it really looks like this game is gonna have much more potential to be close to a real Mario level than the first. I do wonder if we’ll have to unlock stuff again tho.

Also Mercedes Benz costume better come back

I'd like to say something, though. Abot the anime segments. Fire Emblem: Three Houses and the trailer for Link Awakening had anime. I'm not really sure, maybe my memory is very poor, but the last time we had a short anime segment was with Palutena's reveal to Smash 4 and her short animations.

I guess the surprise of Joker being in game at Game Awards can be considered anime, but...
