who's going to this for melee
I do! you should definitely come!I'll try to make it, but my efforts won't be anything extraordinary.
Though I doubt anyone actually cares.
I want to know the answer to this too.Are all the events free of charge?
dude seriously... we're gonna get wrecked (not that i'm even in the crew but so cal is too good).Jun said there will be a San Diego vs So cal and Non so cal crew battle with 5 bucks per person
10 players and 2 alt so you're looking at 60 bucks per crew lol
and Powered by Sex vs Lanstar MM
i won dota last yearSo this is how the other events go
All the other events are free. Since they are free, the prices aren't cash but instead its w/e the sponsors decide to give you. 2 years ago I got 2nd in Guitar Hero 3 and I ended up getting Halo3 (which i sold on ebay for 30 bucks) as the prize. Mind you however there are sign ups on the sixth college website for all the games except smash since the other events are actually being run by the UCSD Sixth College students and not an insider like Aznlep. The most popular sign up is Dota for sure. I recall signing up my team the moment signups went up and I checked an hour later to find that the limit (16 teams) was already full. Btw UCSD has a history of some wack dota teams winning with players like x6.chouji and former x6.demon? playing on the winning team at one time.
I believe Smash and "maybe" guitar hero are the only games in which outsiders actually come to the event to compete though. Say if I posted on SRK that an SF4 tourney was going down and like 50 non-UCSD students showed up, I have no idea if they could even compete. All in all I think that the events other than smash are aimed more towards students but a few outsiders here and there won't ever be noticed since they don't check for ID or anything.
I'll post the website when its up
The venue is also amazing. It is not the same venue as the UCSD triweeklies and instead its a huge ballroom that is more or less the size of a basketball court. The most similar venue would be HAX in which activegamers coast2coast was held. Free bawls every year usually too lol. A variety of food is literally a minute walk away. If you're not going to pound, any WC smash player should really come to this.
