Steve: I love you. I'm glad that I'm not the only ranked smasher that cares about everyone in the smash community. Kashif and Ryan should be ashamed. *shakes head.

lol!

Last week was a lot of fun.. It's good to be back playing again, though I really hate how EVERYONE use Falco now. The universe is telling me to main Fox, but I'm the suck and can't.

Oh and people may get mad at this, but a 2-3$ house fee would be awesome for the BBQ. I'm all for sharing, but last time we tried this in Philly, it got out of hand.

Edit:
Nonranked sounds fun!!

40% to Marcel's mother?

Ugh now I'll never win anything. Make entry fee $10. I want to still win cash at these things that isn't just entry fee back! XD </selfish>

I don't mind Marcel's idea of no ranked players. But if that's the case, we shouldn't be allowing people like Ryoko to play in that tournament since it defeats the purpose.

There is nothing to be ashamed of. I need $ because I lost my wallet and the biweeklies are the easiest way to get it as I can't work or I won't have time for school. And I want to team with LK, which would mean I'd have to wait 6 weeks because 2 weeks from now is non-ranked, 2 weeks after that is Low Tiers/Crews, and 2 weeks after that is normal singles/doubles again.

Don't listen to that *** Inui, he has a job, who cares if he doesn't make his $ back?

Yes, players of a high caliber wouldn't be allowed even if they aren't ranked. Ryoko and Comp come to mind.

And yeah, people we need to think back to when we weren't that great. I'm trying to do something to get more smashers into the scene. Many people want to get into the scene but get discouraged when they know alot of good players will be at a tourney. This will be thier chance to come into the tourney scene.

I work...and go to college. I worked in high school, too. You have no excuse for being jobless. Sorry.

And we'll win money in crews. We'll have James next time. =/

I think it's a good idea. I can't count how many times last year I'd just fight some crazy *** player and get sent straight to losers. I say give it a shot.
here is a smart man right here, I agree, give that thing a shot, It would be interesting to see how it works out, but i hope ranked people would still attend for friendlies and what not.

I was thinking of doing something really special for this tourney. Something to cater towards rookie smashers. They do this in counter strike alot. Only they are called restricted tournies.

Basically no one on a power ranking list is allowed to compete in an event at the bi-weeklie.

What do you all think?
to be fair, i think the banned players should discuss it themselves. they will be the ones losing out. personally id be a little bummed if i couldnt compete.

however, since im not banned, im all for that **** :)

i think its a cool idea... gives some of us who are on the rise to have a chance to show our skill and not get knocked out right after pools. although bill makes a good point maybe u guys could have ur own something for fun or money match eachother since inui can't live without his prize money.....

Hmmm. Regular teams and unranked singles?

Meaning anyone can do teams, but singles will be unranked only.

I like this idea, but I would need an incentive to come. I could definatly bring some people who would otherwise be uninterested.

Addendum: I would show up if the ranked people could play in doubles (I can't believe I am agreeing with Inui). But there better be plenty of friendly TV's for us. And you should include a house fee of a couple of dollars for the BBQ/ EL's mom fee.

Yeah. As long we can do teams and play loads of friendlies, I'm cool. And maybe the ranked people can have their own 16 person bracket or something. >_>;

There is a lot of if's involved with the following proposal, but would anyone from TSA or elsewhere object to a special biweekly sometime in the future held in Philly?

Cactuar and I would run it.

Now we don't have any kind of reliable venue right now. So this is just wishful thinking, but I think it would be kind of nice to have it here for a week. It would give Mrs. Lord and the TSA guys running the tournies a break.

If I can get permission we can hold it at my house.
We could see if Drexel can give us a room or something.
We can definately get some new blood in the tournament. Smash has been growing in Drexel and Penn in the past year.

Any and all feedback on this is greatly appreciated.
Don't get me wrong i know im still a nobody in this little clique but i think the location of the by-weekly is fine. Its like right in the middle of jersey so that way northern players arent screwed over and souther players are just as easy off.

Being one of those not ranked players i dont think this is a good idea. When i go to these tourney's i dont go planing to win money, i go planning to get experience and play good players at their bests. i mean u guys sandbag anyway but hopefully in the actually tournement u play seriously. If the ranked players are outlawed WTF will i learn... how to beat Lk while hes sandbaging?

Leave the Bi-weekly as it was the way it was the first time. nonranked players learn alot more then u think as well as the ranked ones getta have fun playing each other in finals and stuff.

Isn't that why EL's mom gets 40%, for the BBQ?

And it kind of sucks for doyoung if he goes even with nonranked players but can't compete because he's at spot #15 on the power rankings.
I meant keep the $5 entrance fee but have a venue fee for EL's mom. Its less math that way.

^Truth. And no one said you couldn't play a ranked player in a friendly.

If you don't want LK to sandbag, then just tell him not too. It's easy. LK usually only sandbags when he is experimenting though. Besides you can learn alot from someone better then you sandbagging or not. You could ask him for a teaching game, in which he would be sandbagging of course, because the object is to teach, not to win.

And I find that poeple generally learn more from watching good matches and then discussing it with those around them and exchanging thoughts and ideas with good players. Not neccesarilly by getting ***** by them in tournies. In tournies weaker players usually just get gimped by better players. Not to be disrespectful or anything, but because they lack the knowledge to stop it. So what exactly would you learn besides learning to avoid being gimped?

yo sandbaggin is there a really such thing?the only way u can sandbagged is by playin anotha character or just actin stupid in a friendly.people that i beat in friendlys n supposely they was sandbaggin i beat them in tournaments matches also.i also think thatz kinda disrespectful in a way but it also allows u 2 conceal ur true skill which is understandable.me i don't like losin whether itz a friendly or tournament n it can b dk or roy i play just as hard wit each character i choose 2 play wit.that happy n199a everyone in the smash community voice is important so if u got sumthin 2 say let it b said.i'll b goin 2 these bi weeklys so anyone wanna mm me or play me let me kno.my aol name is oni163 n i live in the bx

yo bum me and u see on the same level.
@EL: ur wrong ive played many people who sandbag and didnt learn anything because after i asked them wat to do better they go i don't know i wasnt trying or focusing on the match. When i ask better players not to sandbag sometimes they say "no, the match isnt fun for me if i dont sandbag."

Also if ur getting ***** by gimp kills u tend to learn a few important things,
how to D.I
more efective ways to avoid bad situations
patience

these are things i learned myself simply from facing people in tournements and it was in the tourney itself. it makes me strive for more wen im beat badly because i know i have to get that much better to beat them rather then if its a close match cuz the other player wasnt trying.

U said ask for a teaching game. in a tourney scene not everyone wants to be bothered to hafta play with somekid asking wat he needs to do better especially when to u it might be blatantly obvious. even in those teaching games, specifially to me, players usually dont know wat to say because im on the border of really good and random scrub.

No Sandbaggin, have pro's play in tourney's with scrubs, listen to wat scrubs say cuz wen ur not one u cant really understand too well.

Thnkx Bum

I hope you are joking, cause the fighting game scene is small enough as it is, and this kind of behavior is not cool, I feel if you know something, you should let people who want to learn, know it. it helps the whole community in the long run, and spreads the game. I know it seems like im over reacting to something very small, but its just the principal of the situation, i dont like when people hold back useful info that one might need, if im decent/good at a game with a certain character, i always poor all my knowledge and heart out to whoever ask questions about it, whether it be Marvel, SF or even something like Yu gi oh.
