First of all, Money Match. You don't make a post like that and stay on a guys good side. You think your more eligible than me, you better start provin it. $5 random neutrals only, best of 5. NO JOHNS.
I've been playing competitive smash for longer than most of the players on this list, since 05. As Scar mentioned, I had nothing really to do with the rankings directly, although HBK was begging me the entire way through to just join because he thought I was more than qualified. Regardless though, all I did was provide a forum as a medium for communication, and I compiled results from tournaments. When deciding rules, such as how many people to put on the list, or who was active/inactive, I did take part heavily because this is a question of logic not skill level. But when it came down to players, I chose to stay out of the conversation because I felt that the other panelists were more qualified to discuss the rankings.
Each crew had a representative. Your crew was represented by HBK, so if you aren't happy with anyone's placement on this list, either blame the player or blame the HBK. Either way, because Reno has only recently started doing so well, and this list included tournaments that dated back to september, Reno was placed at 9th. Also look at the people above him, do you see anyone that placed low above him?
Arguably he MAY HAVE deserved 8th, because Reno vs Vanz was the hardest decision to make on the entire list. But would that one spot really have made you happy? No. You are extremely biased towards him because you know nothing about the current state of the smash community since you left it. Than you come on here spoutin garbage about my reputation without knowing ANY of the circumstances whatsoever.
Hazz, as for you, I think the entire panel agreed that you don't have any wins in tourney that qualify you for making it on this list. Most of the time you are either messin around or you don't enter singles. This isn't to say that you aren't a talented player, just that you've never really shown it where it counts- in tourney.

To be honest, i think reno nor vanz cares about where they were placed.

not that i know anything about the players (and consequently, this situation), but just because a player doesn't care doesn't mean you shouldn't make a good list anyway

Honorable mention was only given to spam because of his clear accomplishments in the past, and his placement at the first circuit event. Other than him, no other inactive player has accomplished anything worth noting in tourney, and probably are not high enough caliber to really compete for any of these 15 spots.

I still firmly believe that mid-level players have a better idea of where people should be than the top players.
People like M2K and PC are good enough that they don't recognize the fairly large skill gap between two players like Vanz and myself because they completely obliterate both of us. (No Offense Vanz) Vanz is obviously better then me. But in tournament, M2K probably beats both of us pretty easily.
I feel like Scar HBK and the rest of the panel have a better view. They can contend against the top players, and don't get auto-wins against the bottom ones. They have a better feel of which player is a more difficult matchup.
In our scene, the panel is great because the skills from number 5 down are pretty close, and that is where the players in the panel are. They are in the best position to decided who is better than who.

It's posts like this that make me angry. But what is even worse than this a**hole's ignorant words was that after they were said not one person came in here and stuck up for me despite all I've done in this community.
I think this will be the last time I get involved. It's obvious that unless your are amazing at a game, you get the same disrespect as you'd give to a random scrub despite being in a community for 3+ years now.

If you thought about why I'm posting maybe you'd realize its because I'm legitimately upset. He says all this insulting stuff, and than a few people said "JFox wasn't a panelist". No one said "JFox did a great job" and no one ever has said anything positive about what I've done. I felt under-appreciated before because no one had positive things to say about the list. Now I just feel like ****...I guess no one's got my back in this community. I'm sure if someone talented like PC Chris put in this kind of effort, and some nobody came in a said something, people would be acting like someone just shot Obama up in here. But **** man its JFox, that dude hasn't improved since like 06, who gives a ****? mirite?

Dude, we have ALL noticed your improvements recently. As a community we WANTED you to be on the panel as an overseer. I remember you saying you wanted to stay out of it, but we thought you would be good. You are more organized then everybody else in tristate. You created the video for SPOC. Your efforts are the primary reason that Revival of Smash is getting 100+ attendance. Trust me, we all appreciate it. Any one who doesn't is a moron.

Reno is right as well. We should be concentrated on EC vs WC. HOWEVER, we can't forget south and midwest either....they've given us some trouble in the past. I know that midwest is still on path for revenge, xD.

inui you haven't played melee in forever
magus is amazing and i love him more than anything but g$ would oblite**** him
same goes for alukard, djn, tec0, pakman, sensei, reno, vanz, myself, hbk, eggm, jman, cactuar, pc, and m2k.
and i would put my money on ppl who didnt make the list to beat him i.e. hazzard (like seriously) jfox oorah kabrah etc

They played the other day and Magus did just fine.
I'm pretty sure he won most of them...Hazzard lost to him in tourny last time they played.
Magus's Ganondorf is like 10x better than Oorah's and he'd obviously beat JFox.
Wow @ how much you underrate him.
I'm paying for him to enter the next Melee event so he can beat you all.
He and teh_spamerer are also getting 2nd at Genesis in Melee doubles.

ok cool he was playing Brawl all weekend and only entered Brawl so he didn't warm up in Melee at all
I'm just going to make sure he practices before a tournament and enters it next time.
I know everyone got better. Magus still plays Melee. I even still play it, I just didn't enter the tournament. I know I can still contend with you guys. I'll be entering at Genesis for sure and maybe some other stuff. You'll see.
