I didn't think of it that way either, but at the same time I didn't think it was that much of a problem to have two Toad, one playable and the other Peach's neutral B.

It is a problem in Sakurai's eyes.

Toon Link cannot be both a playable character and a stage element at the same time even though they are two different Toon Links from different time periods. That's why we have the Alfonzo meme in the first place.

But we shouldn't expect Peach to pull out Toadsworth out of her ??? any time soon...

After all, if everyone wants to play as Peach, that makes four Peach on the battlefield.

And I was going to say that Toon Link's case was different because he's unique, but if you use four Toon Link in a FFA, the logic is already thrown out of the window.

Weirder than the two Links is that Zero Suit Samus can now fight regular Samus in their default official costumes...so two Samus'(same person) on screen at once=fine, two Toon Links(different people)=bad, two Ice Climbers=standard.

On topic; two Toads is technically feasible(and makes a lot more sense than two Samus') but is pretty unlikely. Bit of a shame, but if we do get that Captain Toad spinoff, I feel a little more confident in his chances for the next game...as Captain Toad. Which honestly suits me fine.

Like I've said before; Toad is the most iconic Nintendo character to not be playable in SSB already. He deserves the spot for that reason alone.

Unfortunately, many think Toad isn't fully-fleshed out enough to be his own character. I mean, I personally think he's pretty well-developed having his own attributes and characteristics, but I guess you can't please everyone.

That being said, I can see Nintendo doing some pretty fun things with Toad. I can't see anyone else that is yet to be announced being a better representative of the main series (being playable more than any other Mario character besides the Mario Bros. in the platformers) and the spin-offs (one of the most popular Mario Kart racers and party attenders) than Toad.

I'm torn between Tanooki Toad and Cat Toad... I like how cute Toad looks in both costumes... but I think I'll pick Tanooki Toad simply because it is very versatile... I mean, that's why the Tanooki Suit is one of my favorite power-ups in SMB3 (even though Toad isn't playable in it).

I have always mentioned that I would like Toad's own game to be similar to Wonder Boy in Monster World and Super Adventure Island II... but recently I've been playing Dragon's Curse (TG16 version of Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap)... I realized that maybe that's how Toad's own game should be like...

Captain Toad travels around the Mushroom Kingdom, visiting different towns inhabited by various generic species... they give Toad a power-up suit based on their respective species... Bees at the beehive town give Toad the Bee Suit... Cats at the cat tower town give Toad the Cat Suit... Boos at the haunted mansion give Toad the Boo Suit... Tanookis at the treetop town give Toad the Tanooki Suit... Frogs at the tadpole pond give Toad the Frog Suit... but Toad has his own abilities without the suits such as picking up vegetables/enemies and walking on walls.

That would be pretty fun to play around with the power-up suits in a Metroidvania game that takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I would feel indignant. Pikachu fans get Pikachu, not a Pikachu named Sparky. Yoshi fans get Yoshi, not a Yoshi named Boshi. I want Toad, not a Toad named Toadsworth.

Regarding Toads in Mario Kart 8... it's nice to see Toads everywhere... though it is probably a good thing we didn't get Blue Toad, Baby Toad, or even Cat Toad as separate characters in Mario Kart 8. The last thing Toad needs is more hate from fans even though it would have been nice for Nintendo to give more attention to Toad... but Toadsworth would have been nice at the least. It is one more Toad to the roster but he is not a different version of Toad... unlike Baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach.

In all fairness I do quite like Toadsworth(first character I tried on Super Sluggers), but I feel Captain Toad is closer to what I'm after when it comes to Smash.

Getting Toadsworth in Mario Kart however would probably be preferable to Metal/Dry/Baby versions. Although I guess one could say Toadsworth is Dry Old Toad.

Gotta feel for the Bowser Jr. fans; 7 Koopalings and Bowser himself but no Jr.

Diddy fans too. Screwed by the likes of Baby Daisy and Baby Rosalina being chosen over him and Jr. in the lightweight category.

I guess there's always DLC as an option now. Maybe Nintendo's being a sneaky jerk and purposely left poor old Diddy and Jr out based on the knowledge that people WILL pay for them?

Or maybe they just didn't bother and this is the final roster anyway. Oh well; The Mario Kart 8(Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Wario and DK) are all in and I don't mind the Koopalings getting the odd playable appearance.

I don't know anyone who buys Mario Kart games for the characters... for me, for some reason I care more about race courses than characters in Mario Kart games... but that's not to say I don't care about the roster... just as long as I can play as my mains: Toad, Yoshi, and Peach. Always preferred playing as them since the SNES game. But I kinda wanted to play as Nabbit, Toadsworth, and Pauline in Mario Kart 8... oh well, maybe for Mario Kart 9... oh, and the 10th game absolutely must be named "Mario Kart X" no questions asked. It just sounds awesome, okay?

But with SSB games, I care about characters more than other stuff that I also care about... like stages, items, Assist Trophies, Pokemon, and bosses... mainly because I see the SSB roster as something prestigious... the highest honor Nintendo characters (and third party characters) can achieve... the roster slots in Smash are even more precious than the roster slots in Mario Kart. Honestly, it lost meaning when they started giving slots to Metal/Baby/Dry versions of existing characters haphazardly... beginning with Mario Kart Wii.

Just because Metal Mario is unofficially deconfirmed with the confirmation of the Metal Box item doesn't mean Gold Mario is out of the rat race.

I have a feeling next Mario Kart we'll get Metal Dark Fire Tanooki Baby Rosalina or something probably as ****ty. The last two reveals, honestly... Pink Gold Peach, I don't mind that much, it's just an opportunity to play as a fat Peach (but she doesn't really look that Peach to be fair). However, the babies infuriate me. But are we sure the roster for Mario Kart 8 is final ? I mean, it's strange to have all seven Koopalings and not Junior. I'm hoping we are not stuck with only 30 characters, that way I will still be able to play as Birdo.

I mean, Birdo, Junior and Diddy, they should be in it. Not Baby Daisy or Baby Rosalina. I hate the babies. Why not good characters, like Petey, Pauline (oh my gosh, I would love to play as Pauline, why isn't she back in the newer Mario games ?!), Dixie (I mean, we got Funky before Dixie ?
