I'm honestly really not sure. Maybe if one set is Echo Fighters. 3+ years of post-launch support would be crazy, but I also thought more DLC past the Fighters Pass would be a pipe dream.
One thing is I don't know if Nintendo wants the cumulative DLC to cost more than the game itself. The full Smash Ultimate experience costing ~$140 (including Piranha Plant) seems crazy. But again. I thought we would only get one season, so clearly what I speculate doesn't mean much.
I'm very curious how this will shake out. For the first time in forever, Smash speculation feels truly open.
usually when a game has more season pass, the older season passes receive a definitive full of price and/or are discounted very often. I mean, I know that we're talking about Nintendo, but as you said having total price of season passes exceeding the price of vanilla game is a terrible commercial move.
Btw, for people who keeps on saying Funky should be an echo of DK: I disagree. The most prominent feature of Funky is being, well,
funky. So, something largely different from the original material (DK). In order to keep this core difference, Funky couldn't have the same moveset of DK. Some similarities of course, but also many differences.
And yes, I know that the same could be said about Daisy. But the fact is that Daisy is a largely popular character, who many people wanted in in a way or in the other. Funky doesn't enjoy the same popularity and recognizability, so I believe that he could be add to the roster only to bring something new to the table (not necessarily in terms of crazy gameplay mechanics, but overall in terms of personality in comparison to DK). I tend to exclude a Funky echo, we don't "need" him like we needed Daisy (and I'm a person who absolutely loves Funky and never really liked Daisy, lol)
