What are some overused tactics?

Marths need to quit nairing from the ledge. It's got poor spacing from that angle, is easily cc'd, and comes out slowly. Even counter is generally a better option.
Everyone also seems to let spacies come back every time (the spacie) attempts a down-angled UpB sweetspot. Especially Falco. It's not very difficult to predict it and jump out (or use an attack with a large forward hitbox if your character has poor mobility) and smack him while he's charging the fire.

What ya got?

If I get desperate / frustrated I return to stupid stuff from my days of being horribad, e.g. doing a lot of useless downsmashes which have pretty much a zero chance of connecting.

So people need to keep calm at all cost, mostly :D

Otherwise the biggest thing I can't understand people doing is spacies being hellbent on pressuring the shiny colored bubbles around people instead of just grabbing.

Lol at people "stopping" to do these things, esp spotdodge after aerials.

You shouldnt spam it, but they are still very viable options and not using them is ******** and limits you

I agree with Xyzz. How many times would a spacie get punisher for doing shine > grab in today's metagame? To be fair, they don't always have great out of throw options... but still.

I figured that no one would imply that they need to stop doing these things completely. That's pretty obvious
right?

The reasons behind shield pressure as opposed to simply grabbing is the lack of options spacies (mainly Falco) have after a throw. Trying for a poke or a break is a bit of a better option than grabs a lot of the time. It's not always safe though.

agreed with leffen although i sometimes take it to the next level and do outright stupid stuff as a "legit" mixup

Not realizing their double jump was lost when losing an aerial exchange and realizing it too late. Those circles on aerial jumps are there for a reason.

I think I can basically sum the whole thing up.

People need to stop talking about specific options in absolutes. As long as something works in at least one situation, it is situationally viable. A truly good player doesn't limit themselves through wholesale exclusion of any of the tools they have.

If people would simply read the OP, they would understand I didn't mean "NEVER DO IT EVER AGAIN."

"What are some overused tactics?" Is the FIRST thing in my post.

I'd change the title but I don't know how.

i'd say #1 noob habit i hate seeing is people running off and double jump back-airing back on pretty horrid tactic

I see a lot of people shielding as soon as they see a possible incoming combo, and when they shield they hold it and wait for a opportunity to shield grab. This is easily punishable and shouldn't be done (some people do this almost the entire match)

I've been noticing myself doing this a fair bit lately, but I always fail to see what the hell else I could've done :(
And as above said... I've yet to actually be punished for it (and most often I even get that Bair hit).

I do it sometimes when i'm cornered at the ledge. But I'm DK so it's like what else am I going to do.

Something I love that a ton of bad players do is roll away a lot. I get a lot of grabs off of reads that way. really funny.

Stop letting Fox/Falco players side-B right through you when they're recovering for no reason
