This video is not meant for criticism; I just have a sonic-related question.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GhtT1TFrvs
How do you do that jump out of spindash that itt does at 0:30? I cant figure it out.
He just done a spinshot.

On the ground, sideB then release the charge and quickly flick the Cstick down (or any direction) -that's the way I do it- or either press "A" or a jump button.

In the air, you can do it the same way or an easy method would be to charge downB, then release the charge and quickly flick the Cstick (any direction except down)

edit: Oh well <.<

Some friendlies from my very first tourney, results of my online training... lol

I know that I lose in most of these, but I did win in a lot more matches, but they simply weren't recorded... So, what do you guys think? =D I'd particularly suggest the Wolf, CF and Marth matches for entertainment purposes but I'd like some criticism too. :dizzy:

I noticed that I tend to slip off the stage a lot. That cost me that Marth match as well, when I tried to do a dash attack with C-stick down... Am I doing something wrong? :urg:

too much f smash

too much aerialing after spindashes that clearly werent going to hit.

too many obvious falling bairs after spindash aerials.

not enough spotdodge punishing.

needs WAYYY more low percent down tilt on spacies, and heavies.

too much fishing for kill moves.

up throw will never kill if you stale it, if it doesnt kill the first time, try something else.

I dont care what the situation is, if the dude is throwing out falcon punches, you should ALWAYS be able to punish it.

Too much repetition in your play.

Im tired, but if you want specific examples of my points, let me know and ill do it tmr.

However, your vids did alert me to something that I want to look into a bit more.

We need to look into spindash to un finished fair. And instead of just trying to fastfall a back air to hit them, we can use it as a techchase/jab lock setup for much more damage.

No need for specific examples for [0], [2], [4], [6], [7] and [8], but I'd like some examples on [1], [3] and [5]. Also, what should I do as an alternative for [1], [2] and [5]?

Thanks!

what do you do as an alternative?
instead of spindash jump to fair on a shield you can:
roll past them, turn around and try to hit them on the other end.
do a spindash jump but without the aerial, the aerial stops your horisontal momentum, so without it, youll fly far enough to make it almost impossible to punish.
my personal move, spindash jump to dair right on top of their shield. so they get hit when they come out of shield to punish.
the __X__ move, spindash jump to immediate spring on their shield, when they come oos to punish, theyll get hit by the spring.

also, if they shield it, dont try to just come down with a bair, at least not every time. You have to mix it up. try to drop a spring on their head, maybe side b back toward them, with or with out the shield cancel. Or you can even just land empty and run back in for a grab.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mpd7jjqezs#t=00m15s there it got you grabbed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mpd7jjqezs#t=00m23s and right after, you show a good example of what you can do otherwise.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mpd7jjqezs#t=02m25s there it got you grabbed again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mpd7jjqezs#t=02m40s that time he hit you before it came out.

Its sonic. You always have options.

two times in a row, you down threw, you should have known that you werent going to be fast enough to get the guaranteed regrab so you should have waited for the spotdodge and grabed afterward, but instead you try to push your luck and got punished both times.

And as far as getting knocked off the stage goes, you cant really do anything about that to fix it, other than dont stand around ledges so much...

This may work like once a set. This can be heavily punished if they know it's coming. Like Snake FSmash punishing. So just as KID is saying, mix it up.

I played one of the people from speeds region, a dude that fights sonic all the time, a ZSS named Sassy, and I hit him with spindash to dair like 10-12 times over the course of a set.

everyone is SO retardedly conditioned to punish spindash to aerial, with a bair or something oos, that pretty much any other option will be amazingly effective.

and im pretty sure regular shielding a sonic dair, cant be punished with a snake f smash. its not THAT laggy...

the kirby sat there and camped the edge with swallow, the entire second half of the match? why would you knowingly walk into the swallow like that?

there was so much wrong with that, I dont even know where to start.
1. why didnt you just jump over him and bair, or hyphen smash, or ROLL BEHIND HIM even.
2. why didnt you mash out before he jumped offstage, you have FOREVER.
3. why did you try to get back on the same effing side that he spit you out from, you know what he was trying to do (if you didnt, youre freaking dumb) your sonic. you could have just spindashed to the other side of the stage...

the fox match was aight. pretty solid, you just need to step up your spacing when your running around to avoid his attacks so you can counter faster. also, grab more.

thx kid

Im not sure what I was thinking at the time. I was probably thinking that i knew when he was gonna release suck and I was gonna be there to punish but idk.

With fox I know exactly what you're talking about. Spacing is a bit of a problem for me. Nowhere near as bad as it used to be, but it still needs a lot of work. With the grabbing thing I was actually trying not to grab as much cuz my friend baits the **** out of my grab cuz he knows how much I love to give hugs. But yea, maybe you could see parts of that match where Id wiff like 2 hugs in a row and then get dash attacked or utilted or whatever. but thanks for the input man. Im gonna try to get more stuff up in a week or so, so stay on the line broski ;)
