Some people just hate any kind of change.Seeing people get mad about the Shrek 5 teaser and comparing it to Beta Movie Sonic is insane cause it's literally just Shrek, no drastic changes, literally doing things the original movie did with topical jokes and celebrity actors. Can someone explain to me why people are heated about it?
I mean, DK's was actually noticable. Shrek's is less noticable than Kitty in Boots for Last Wish while people are shocked that Shrek would use celebrity voice actors as they were not alive when Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy were big starsI have anxiety attacks when it comes to change and even I didn't mind the new Shrek.
I do mind Donkey's changes though. A minor change made him look like a crack addict.
Donkey from Shrek. Not DK, I like DK's change.I mean, DK's was actually noticable. Shrek's is less noticable than Kitty in Boots for Last Wish while people are shocked that Shrek would use celebrity voice actors as they were not alive when Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy were big stars
Brb I'm about to January 6th Nintendo for making me do this blunderDonkey from Shrek. Not DK, I like DK's change.
Ugly Sonic was as horrific as the CGI the Cats movie had tbh. A complete and total abomination.New Shrek does look kinda weird imo.
Grabted I get the old Shrek style was kinda dated but I feel the more cleaner look doesn't really work for a more vulgar series.
Comparing it to Ugly Sonic is insane, new Shrek is just offputting at worse, Ugly Sonic was an abomination.
Being mad for the sake of it. He's like 98% the same, and only minor changes that **** in Boots got in his 2nd film. Like I didn't even notice as much at first cause it's obvious to me that the CGI from the 2000's is gonna be different from 2020's CGI(unless it's live action workers being overworked).Seeing people get mad about the Shrek 5 teaser and comparing it to Beta Movie Sonic is insane cause it's literally just Shrek, no drastic changes, literally doing things the original movie did with topical jokes and celebrity actors. I couldn't tell you the major changes other than a small detail that I don't even remember being in the movies, though I have not seen those movies in over a decade. Shrek has crow's feet, which does indeed make him look olderHonestly, I assumed the aim of the new design was to make him look older, now that he's a dad. I didn't even really clock that it was meant to be a (slight) change in art style lol.
My sole frame of reference is an Internet Funny Man Youtuber hating this with a passion, was it like the Addams Family musical where a big part of the story goes against something people love about the original? How quickly Shrek fans forget that this discourse has already happened...

Adding to that is Peter Quill hanging out with Vision, the Young Avengers meeting with Wong and Quill and a Black Panther variant?Someone’s getting fired, but doomsday looks kind of peak.
Also from what I’ve seen that’s not secret wars. That all doomsday allegedly.

If all of that is within just Doomsday then how the **** will all of that work? Makes you wonder which characters will and won’t play a major role in it, especially since Spidey likely won’t due to dealing with his struggles. This also probably makes Mayor Kingpin look like a hero despite being…him…Adding to that is Peter Quill hanging out with Vision, the Young Avengers meeting with Wong and Quill and a Black Panther variant?
I really hope that they get Shang Chi involved for Doomsday.
Honestly this to me just feels like the equivalent of different looney tunes characters in the golden age looking different because a different director was handling the short.Yeah, the hate for the Shrek redesigns is a bit much.
So many people are saying that he's either been "Disneyfied" or just made less "ugly" and thus going against one of the core messages of the series of not needing to be "perfect", or the fact that Shrek stood out from Disney and even some of Dreamworks' other own protagonists by not being conventionally good-looking,
I'm sorry, but...that's still very much Shrek lmao. Having a slightly differently shaped nose and eyes and having smoother, upgraded animation more than a decade later doesn't magically make his design a complete overhaul. Compared to so many other character redesigns out there, this is barely a change outside of the animation getting a serious upgrade.
Um.....How quickly Shrek fans forget that this discourse has already happened...

Maybe it'll be in the Switch 2 directMan, I really want some Metroid Prime 4 news.
it depends on the change to determine whether to accept or fearDo people really hate change, or fear it? I mean, changes can be good. The following is not necessarily an example, but I must ask; the redesigns of the Chuck E. Cheese characters, they were not too bad, right?

Sidenote, I need to see more musicals in general, no longer being a teenager might make me enjoy that **** more
We don’t have much to go off of but if I were to guess:If all of that is within just Doomsday then how the **** will all of that work? gonna pray RDJ kills it as Doom
Yeah, that makes sense. Thing is, I don’t think the Shrek 5 changes were that big of a change. I don’t think the changes made for Shrek 5 were that big of a deal.it depends on the change to determine whether to accept or fear
Some people get easily/quickly bent out of shape if they're used to something and it changes too much from what they're comfortable with. There are likely plenty of older examples, but I know that this has been going on since at least the 1960's. A letter's page for the Fantastic Four comics complained that the introduction of characters like Galactus, Silver Surfer, and Black Panther were a sign that the comic was a shadow of its former self.Do people really hate change, or fear it? Woah, that is…something, I guess. It must have been taken out of proportion, like with Shrek 5.Some people get easily/quickly bent out of shape if they're used to something and it changes too much from what they're comfortable with. For all I know, some of Shakespeare's plays had exchanges mocking this kind of attitude.
Comparing it to ugly Sonic is a bit much, but something about the trailer just doesn’t feel like Shrek. The style looks too clean but it’s also trying to find a middle ground between the old style and something more stylized, like it’s a major enough departure from the style of the past films that it feels off and I’m not sure what direction it wants to go in. And pop culture references aren’t new for it but Shrek hasn’t been relevant in meme culture for years so this just feels like it’s trying to capitalize on it too late or trying to appeal to the group that grew up on the Shrek memes rather than the movies.Seeing people get mad about the Shrek 5 teaser and comparing it to Beta Movie Sonic is insane cause it's literally just Shrek, no drastic changes, literally doing things the original movie did with topical jokes and celebrity actors. I’ve seen the show on YouTube and yeah I agree with said funnyman. Its entire existence kinda goes against what the original movie is going for (the licensed songs being a stylistic choice replacing the type of original songs Disney movies would have while the musical has put in almost all original songs) and it really muddles the narrative, it has the live action Disney remake problem of scenes from the movie being recreated but without any of the nuance to make them work and a lot of questionable decisions like having making Farquad a son of one of the seven dwarves or Shrek and Fiona having a song where they try to one-up each others childhood trauma. My sole frame of reference is an Internet Funny Man Youtuber hating this with a passion, was it like the Addams Family musical where a big part of the story goes against something people love about the original?

I'm always open to suggestions from people who I consider to have good taste, so musical recommendations for my movie nights with friends, one of which being a theater kid in terms of personality, are very welcome!Comparing it to ugly Sonic is a bit much, but something about the trailer just doesn’t feel like Shrek. I can point you to a few musicals if you’re interested. I think you should give the movie adaptation of Wicked a shot too if you wanna see a decent musical with a green-skinned outcast protagonist
I’m not sure what would be good entry points into the genre but some of the most staple ones are Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Wicked and Hamilton. Other recommendations from me are Hairspray, Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, Chicago, Into the Woods, The Producers, In the Heights, Avenue Q, Fun Home, Waitress and the musical adaptations of Heathers and Beetlejuice. I’ve also heard good things about Hadestown and Jesus Christ Superstar but I haven’t seen those yetI'm always open to suggestions from people who I consider to have good taste, so musical recommendations for my movie nights with friends, one of which being a theater kid in terms of personality, are very welcome!
Wade already mentioned a lot of all-timers and classics, I'd also like to mention Come From Away, The Music Man and West Side StoryI'm always open to suggestions from people who I consider to have good taste, so musical recommendations for my movie nights with friends, one of which being a theater kid in terms of personality, are very welcome!
