PS6 in 2027 just has me wondering what the last two years of the PS5 are going to look like given the fallout of Sony's failed live service push likely means the first party output isn't actually going to get better.

Been watching Star Wars I-VI with the commentary and these things stood out to me.
- Han's comment about less than 12 parsecs is because the Millennium Falcon is not faster than other ships in terms of speed but in terms of the course it takes. The idea is that jumping to hyperspeed requires the ship to plot a course around objects and that better navigation systems can plot better routes. The Millennium Falcon has a really good navigation system and so gets to places faster by taking a shorter route around things.
- A lot of people state that the Wampa attack was specifically included to explain why Luke looks different as Mark Hamill had to undergo facial reconstruction after a car accident. In reality, Lucas was content to just use the time between episodes IV and V to explain the difference and the Wampa scene was included to have some tension early in the film. That said, Lucas recognised the scene did coincidentally have the bonus of relating to Luke's appearance.
- The director of Empire Strikes Back really loved classic gags. He would often point out little bits of humour as some of the oldest gags which everyone does, like whacking a piece of advanced technology to get it to work.
- Lucas consulted with psychologists on how Episode V's ending might affect children. He was worried about Luke losing his arm and the reveal of Vader being his father. The psychologists said the arm wasn't a problem and that if the truth about Vader was a problem, the children would just deny it.
- Obi-Wan was killed off in Episode IV because otherwise he'd just be standing around during the Battle of Yavin. This led to needing to create Yoda in Episode V as a replacement.
- There was originally one Death Star near the end of the story. Lucas' story was so big he split it up and moved the Death Star earlier to add some more excitement there. Rather than come up with something new, he more or less just went with the original climax with the now second Death Star.
- I'd already heard of Lucas using Star Wars to show how democracies are given up, not taken away but an extra statement in the commentary for Episode III seemed especially poignant. Lucas noted that most people find politics confusing because they don't engage with it and what they seek out is a single person to take power and control or make sense of everything for them.
- Ben Burtt is the GOAT.
- The commentary discussed making Jar Jar a lot for Episode I.
- There was an attempt to make Dooku seem ambiguous as to whether he might have actually been evil or had the Galaxy's interests at heart.
- A digital Peter Cushing was considered to have Tarkin appear at the end of Episode III. In the end they found someone similar enough and gave him some prosthetics. It's a weird thing to know given Rogue One.

There's not that many games that push the systems as it is. I get that most console gens recently run around 7 years, but PS5 barely feels like it had time to get in its groove. One of the reasons being that games cost so much to make now, and take like half a decade to make. Given how Wolverine for example is still likely a ways away. And Sony had 12 live service games lined up because Jim Ryan is one of the biggest idiots in the industry and could have done anything else.
Sony see themselves like Apple I guess. Though now with awkward tech design and less specific dongles or whatever.
Well, you can always wish for the best at least.

A: we no longer really need a power boost. The ps5 and series X are both still top of the line and developers can do pretty much whatever they want on those systems.
B: the ps5 never really found its identity and barely has any cool games. It still feels like the console is just starting out and doing the next console so soon would feel wrong. And if the PS6 ends up having the same problems but worse, which I suspect it might, then moving on won’t have accomplished much.
C: if the price of the PS5 pro is any indicator, the thing will be so expensive not many people will buy them and it won’t really help their bottom line.

Some Reddit communities are also banning links to anything owned by Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) with one subreddit also banning TikTok.
Perhaps Nintendo should consider moving over to Bluesky? Sure, a fanmade account exists to post Nintendo’s announcements from Twitter, but I’m sure the person behind the account would relinquish the account to Nintendo if they joined.
Nintendo would be joining Sega, Xbox, and many others if they did.

This is very normal. Every single PlayStation has come out between 6-7 years from the last. The good thing is that Sony supports its consoles for 10 years or more despite the next iteration being on the market. PS2’s (2000) last game was 2014. PS3’s (2006) last game was 2020. PS4 (2013) is still getting games in 2025. So PS5 will be getting games for a long long time.
Very normal. Wii, Switch, XB marketplace (or whatever it’s called), Steam, PSN. All have shovelware.

I need to play more than 3 hours of the first 3d game, that **** is HARD, fought literally over 100+ enemies in one room, including ones with rocket launchers, only for it to have lime a piece of heart instead of being the way forward. I was SO mad lmao. When I play it again, I'm def using the charge attacks more to abuse i frames

Damn bruh Doom Ages kinda... Doesn't look good? On paper it's Doom meets Aemy of Darkness but they ****ed up the glory kills which are a massive part of 2016 and Eternal. At least the slow speed can be adjusted

I'm split right down the middle
on one hand the gun combat and the new enemies and stuff all look fun as hell and exactly what I wanted from a new modern Doom.
but the other hand this time around it feels insecure about itself. Almost like it is trying too hard to be ultra badass. And like yeah, the Mech and Dragon are pretty ****ing awesome. But those new Glory Kills are really lame. And a lot of the melee stuff looked clunky. and the fact that they didn't even try to repair their relationship with Mick Gordon has kinda put a sour taste in my mouth.

Yeah the Mick Gordon stuff is why I'm waiting for a massive price cut at the very least. Absolutely disgraceful garbage and should never be forgiven. I don't agree on it seeming more insecure cause like, Eternal made him roided as hell but gave him negative cheeks for some reason but yeah it cannot be understated how terrible the new glory kill **** is. Wow, you swing a mid range mace instead of ****ing lunging towards them to absolutely decimate them and even use i frames to get less disoriented if needed. Just a pansy ass mace swing does NOT compare

It having an update that gets revealed, but not released in the same year with yet another update being revealed + with what’s presumably smaller updates/drops inbetween, makes it really seem fake.
That and it has the fabled Red Dragon on it (I’ll believe Mojang is adding it when I see it, and I don’t believe they’ll make it a badly reskinned Ender Dragon like it appeared to be in the leak (it was just its head but still, basically just the Ender Dragon with red eyes and a red tinted body. They didn’t even make it bright red so it truly just looks like the Ender Dragon’s black scales with a bit of a red tint applied to it in Paint.NET, or made sepia then hue-shifted)).
All that said, apparently there’s an “Idaho Cape” that’s been found and it’s real, with what looks like a glitchy-looking placeholder texture. So maybe the next Experience is in Idaho. I’m guessing whoever made this leak just saw it, somehow got the Hello Kitty keyart early (supposedly this “leak” came out before the DLC but I don’t know the source), and used the DLC + made a prediction for the next Experience to make it seem real.
A Fortnite collab would be cool though, but it’d be disappointing if it was Movie Steve and not the actual Minecraft Steve.

Honestly I think trying to predict what movie will win the award is an exercise in futility. Like, last time we all thought Spiderverse was gonna win, but then they gave it to Miyazaki out of the blue.
The big fight is mainly between Pixar and Dreamworks, but I do think Flow has a chance. It got nominated for BEST INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM overall, next to overall Best Picture nominee I'm Still Here. That is huge, and only the third time an animated movie got nominated for that award (and the first time a Latvian movie has ever gotten multiple nominations). So it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.
