Well I found the Special World in Wonder.

Lets see how it goes

Update: Cleared the first level. Definutely took a bit of attempts but yeah got it.

They don't fool around but thankfully they're not any longer than the regular levels.

There hardest part really is the lack of checkpoints.

As for the Special World, I managed to get through the Wonder Seed locks and am up to a level calling itself The Final Test.

Someone please let me know if there is or isn’t a wonder effect where your character turns into Bowser as soon as they can. I’ve been really hoping that this would be a thing ever since I saw Mario turn into a Goomba.

Please promise me that, if there is no wonder effect where you transform into Bowser, you won't go into a tirade about how the game is **** and all your hopes and dreams are destroyed.

I really wish more modern games that had first person cameras had the option to toggle to a third person camera. First person cameras give me motion sickness. I generally think that “accessibility” gets thrown around in places it shouldn’t be. Especially when it comes to things like difficulty. But idk, this feels like an accessibility thing to me.

I'll always have plenty to say about Mario Wonder and what I like and dislike about it from a creative standpoint. But I'll let everyone have their fun, and also play the game myself, before I really go off on it. And when I do I'll try to frame it in a way that's like... constructive critique and not just a reflexive desire to cancel out people's hype.

Looks like in addition to getting all wonder seeds, you need to get the three big purple coins on each stage and get the top of the flag pole to unlock the FINAL final challenge

I'm going to play some more Spider-Man 2 before doing all that.

Well the second level in the Special World took around 25 lives and I ended up maxing out my Flower Coins unintentionally. My fingers a little sore now, so this seems like the perfect time to make some dinner.

Also definitely just take the loss in obstacle course type levels. If you restart a level instead of just losing a life, you'll also lose any of the Giant 10x Flower Coins you had already collected.

I think it’s a bit silly that the game still has lives, but it really doesn’t make a difference either way. The effect they have on gameplay is virtually nonexistent, you’ll always have more than enough lives.

You're right, no lives anymore. Games should directly send you to the title screen the moment you lose all of your health.

Honestly lives systems are kind of an archaic holdover from the arcade era. There's still probably some use cases for them but yeah in Mario it'd probably be better if they go.

My guess is that they probably still wanted to reward you somehow for collecting good coins. Mario Odyssey rewarded you with a boatload of costumes but progressive power ups and hand-crafted animations for various characters probably made that less feasible in Wonder.

The way Sonic Origins and Superstars handles this is by letting you get medals with 100 rings which can be used as an ingame currency, maybe you get like 20 purple coins or something with 100 regular ones?

Maybe I'm just playing the game wrong but, man this game is hard.



There's soo few passive Pokemon that catching them feels extremely difficult, and Alphas are a legit threat this early one. That, and the fact that it feels basically impossible to actually sneak up on the wide majority of 'mons, Heavy Balls feel like they kinda suck.

Craft smoke bombs, later stages straight up won't have grass anymore, so you need to use them to hide. Distracting them with food also works
