Do abilities even work in a more action oriented game like this?
Some of them would work. Abilities like Aerilate or Pixilate translate very easily, for example. Abilities like Huge Power, Tough Claws, or Mega Launcher are simple damage multipliers. And Parental Bond just means Kangaskhan gets to punch you twice in real time.

Others might be a bit more complicated though.

The save battery in my copy of Silver ran out partway through a playthrough :/

Imagine the crazy ways attacks and Pokemon are going to flip around to get No Guard to work.

Will say that abilities possibly not being in ZA feels... weird.

It made sense in PLA. People were still barely understanding what Pokemon were and how they worked, their ecosystems, etc.

But this game's some time after XY, which is very, very modern by comparison, and we're even seeing things like Pokemon Centers and Shops, meaning for all intents, this game feels more like a modern Pokemon game just with a different battle system in place.

So no abilities feels....odd.

Okay but not understanding how Pokémon work shouldn't stop them from having abilities in universe.

I mean, lorewise, they kinda 'do' have abilities. Regigigas having Slow Start kinda proves it. It's just the knowledge of what Pokemon are or how they work isn't there, and a lot of abilities are pretty subtle admittedly. When you bring the Pokemon up to modern times, they have abilities, it's just no one really knows enough about Pokemon at the time to know "Oh, that's its ability".

I'll be honest, I know gamewise why abilities show up and don't but I feel the need to try and explain it never works out. Like am I to believe Pokémon with levitate didn't start avoiding ground type until someone discovered abilities.

This is an issue dating back to Gen II. Dark and Steel types are new discoveries but you're telling me no one noticed their Magnemite getting rekt by flamethrower or whatever?

In other news, finally got around to watching Arcane Season 2 and

...............I didn't like it. Like, at all.

Which is weird cause Season 1 was like, peak cinema to me.

Your brain is subconsciously trying to repel the League
Yesn't.... kinda.

As someone who played, admittedly a lot of League, I used to enjoy the narrative the game had.

Then they retconned all of it, and it was still 'fine'. It was very much a work in progress world build, but they were slowly adding to it since, they had well over 100~ characters they needed to reincorporate into it.

And then Arcane Season 1 became popular and at first they decided "This is set in an alternate timeline".... until they suddenly decided "Actually no it's canon now"

And Season 2 completely takes the world they had spent years building and punts a ton of it into the trash, for the worst imo.

REX is the upcoming successor to PMEX Remix and yes it has X & Zero. All official characters are planned to be added eventually.

While some characters are teased in silhouettes, the only confirmed new characters right now are Incineroar and Pikachu Libre.
There's like two going on concurrently, I know I saw one with OG Mega Man that had costumes for Quint and even some of the other Robot Masters like Time Man and Elec Man. But I couldn't remember which of the two it was, nor if they were directly related to each other. Incineroar coming back is cool though, for sure!

They could/should most of them anyway. Xenoblade seems to handle similar stuff just fine. Static, Poison Point and Flame Body could activate if you make contact. Clear Body stops I think either status effects or lowered stats. Tough Claws/Stong Jaw/Iron Fist increases physical attacks or specific physical attacks. Maybe weather setting ones are a hassle in this context? Speed based ones could probably decrease cool-down times instead?

This game is without an exaggeration one of the best RPGs out there, it has something for EVERYONE due to it deciding to break from the norm for the genre at the time. Do you wanna play turn based street fighter? You have that as an option! Wanna play as a funny caveman who doesn't talk alongside his monkey friend who throws poop which is required to do constantly if you want to fight a superboss? You can do that! Being a wise old martial art master who wishes to pass down his craft to students? It's there for you! Wanna be a street punk with psychic powers? A ninja who's supposed to sneak in and can do a no kill or a genocide run? A funky little robot dude who has to flee from The Horrors or even a badass outlaw in the wild west who wishes to defend a village? All of these are your characters! The game's a MASSIVE inspiration for Toby Fox and by god does it show, it's not as long as most RPGs but that just means the time spent is well worth it, especially when one considers the soundtrack, my god, it might very well be Yoko Shimomura's best work, you owe it to yourself to look at this game, it was fresh when it came out on the Super Famicom and it's still fresh when it came to the Switch as a timed exclusive. Truly, one of the best games I've ever played on the system, you will not regret it!
