No characters besides Marvin made it to season 2, despite them saying there would be more, no other big content since, still lacking some of the changes people want. Season 3 must also be behind pretty bad on content, especially if they couldn’t even finish characters for season 2.

Really a shame to see how badly they fumbled this bag.

Going months without content and not being up front about it until way later is a really poor look.
Communication is important, especially on a live service game. That said, none of the devs deserve any of the **** that's gonna be going their way, game dev is hard and they don't need (understandably) unsatisfied gamers getting on their case and making it harder.

They definitely don’t. The games failure rests on two factors, the devs underestimated how big the game would get, and the executives didn’t do much to help when things got overwhelming. Leading to them being way over the heads on this and losing all faith the community had in them.

Honestly the only shot to save this game is to shut it down. Work for a year or two on it, and rebrand or go all in on marketing. Give a strong batch of content and features, and have at least half a years worth of content ready. That way it gives them plenty of leeway to keep adding to the game without over working themselves.

But that’s probably never going to happen now and Warner will let the game fade into obscurity, and likely never attempt this again.
