I've been thinking about a pokemon type concept myself. I was thinking of it being a "monster" type inspired by mythical beasts as well as contemporary monsters such as cryptids and kaiju but...that's kind of redundant because they're all already pocket monsters. I also considered the idea of calling it the beast type instead but honestly eh, the idea just didn't work that well. But eh, may as well share it.

Some type interactions I considered for it we for it to be strong against fairy and weak against dragon and fire. I figured it'd be fitting to put it in a type triangle with dragons and fairies since those are what inspired it and fire is a common motif for fighting off powerful beasts. I also considered making it strong against steel, as they'd have superhuman strength much like fighting types, and weak to rock because of classic stories of monsters being stoned to death.

Some previous pokemon I had in mind for this type included
  • Kantonian Muk (Poison/Monster)
  • Lickitung/Lickilicky (Normal/Monster)
  • Tangela/Tangrowth (Grass/Monster)
  • Feraligatr (Water/Monster)
  • Granbull (Fairy/Monster)
  • Loudred/Exploud (Normal/Monster)
  • Garbodor (Poison/Monster)
  • Kalosian Goodra (Dragon/Monster)

Some concepts for new pokemon I had included
  • A Greek Chimera who's three unique heads let it learn a wide variety of attacks.
  • A Monster/Flying griffin with pretty straightforward characteristics.
  • A Monster/Ghost boogeyman that loves to hide in children's closets or under their beds.
  • A Monster/Bug tarantula with monstrous traits, loosely inspired by Shelob.
  • A Fairy/Monster Granbull evolution with three heads, inspired by Cerberus.
  • And heck, a Monster-type Minotaur that is a counterpart to a Fairy-type Satyr because why not?

Disney getting better?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha- no...

They're gonna make a live-action remake of every Disney animated film they made until there's none left. Lol.

Live-action Zootopia will be nightmare fuel.
I was being optimistic with Disney changing for the better and I still believe it will happen eventually.
I'm just disappointed that you effectively said "Disney will NEVER get better" which is so... defeatist.
About my brother-in-law...

He is doing well now. The condition wasn't as bad as it seemed to be.
Thank goodness he's okay. I remember when I found my dad laying in his bathroom bleeding profusely from his ankle which raddled me badly that morning. He's fine now, but that still gave me quite a scare so I can somewhat relate to what happened with you brother-in-law.

Anyone know how I can find the value of a Yu-Gi-Oh! card?

I found one of my brother's cards (Right Leg of the Forbidden One) and values are all over the place for this card online.
What's the code on the right side of the art? Punch that into tcgplayer.com and assess the condition of the card/if it's 1st edition or not.

Movie was great! Could have used more game music in more prominent places I didn’t even notice City Escape or EGGMAN even though I knew to listen for them. . I do kind of agree with a common complaint I’ve heard often We needed a scene of Gerald with Maria to really set up his relationship with her. but it was still really great.
Miscellaneous Thoughts
  • When did City Escspe and EGGMAN supposedly play?
  • Was I just hearing things or was there a little bit of All Hail Shadow over the beginning?
  • Was any other game music supposedly in this movie? I was writing this post when that part of the credits came on screen.
  • Does Shadow have the Master Emerald/Chaos Emeralds now? He was Super for longer than Sonic.
  • While I do wish we heard more of Live and Learn, the only reason to make that scene longer would be to play more of the song so I get it.
  • Ain’t no way Eggman is gonna stay dead, but I do wonder how he’ll come back.
  • Classic Shadow is technically an official thing now. Or at least Sonic the Fighters Shadow.
  • I really hope they aren’t doing Terminator with Metal Sonic. That would be so lame. Save Silver and time travel for his own movie.
  • Not a fan of the Chao Garden being a mascot cafe. Chaos is directly connected to the Chao and this use of them makes me feel like Chaos won’t be in a movie now.
  • I feel like the reason that Amy doesn’t talk was so they can avoid having to reuse her game actress in Sonic 4 like they did with Tails. They’re probably still kicking themselves over not being able to use a celebrity for him.
  • I hope Shadow isn’t in 4 at all. Shadow’s next storyline should be told in his own movie. Along with the introduction of Rouge and Omega (just say Eggman built the E-100 series during his depressive phase before 3).
  • Still hoping for a Knuckles Chaotix movie to introduce Team Chaotix without overcrowding the next Sonic film. Then once all the characters have been introduced we can bring them together for a big Sonic Heroes moment.

I didn't hear City Escape either (I only found out it was in the movie because I saw it in the credits), but EGGMAN was Robotnik's ringtone. (and it was only the opening bit)

City Escape should have been what Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles race to at the beginning (they're camping, they've already escaped from the city) and EGGMAN should have been the song the two Robotniks danced to in the laser tunnel.

You can hear a bit of City Escape during the scene where Sonic’s running around London. Specifically the “follow me, set me free” part. It’s pretty understated though.

Yeah, I figured it would be hidden like that. That's partly why I think I must have imagined All Hail Shadow being part of the beginning. Wear the game music more proudly in the next one. The Soundtrack is like, 40% of why people love Sonic.

A real Archen moment.

My hope for Disney to get better is if Bob Iger leaves. Ultimately he's the one who called the shots for the bajillions of live-action remakes we've been stuck with since the 2010s started (granted Bob Chapek didn't exactly help, but Bob Iger is definitely at least somewhat to blame for all the remakes).

Remember Micheal Eisner? Man, we really didn't know what we had until it was gone.

No that was absolutely there.
Well then alright! Glad I picked up on it (though that's probably because it's in my top 10 Sonic songs so there's no way I'd miss even a little bit of it). Maybe the reason I didn't catch City Escape is because I only ever listen to the Classic Sonic version of it from Generations. Still I hope they get more comfortable using the game music next time. Sonic and Mario both need to learn this lesson.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Eisner really only ruined the parks and not the movies, correct?
The Mario movie was filled with game music dude. I’ve listened through the whole soundtrack multiple times, there’s absolutely dozens of references.
Yeah but they couldn't help themselves and still had to put a few pop songs in there. Ideally next time there would be no pop songs.

Hey if DREAMWORKS (the people who originated the practice) can start putting out movies with no pop songs, Mario can do it too.

Iirc, Eisner became infamous for green-lighting a LOT of mid-as-heck direct-to-video sequels to the classic library. People reaaaaally hated those.

Some of the sequels WERE pretty awful (Hunchback 2...) but most were just pretty eh, and some were outright good like the Lion King and Lilo and Stitch sequels, so they're pretty benign compared to what we have now.

But you're right that the tourism field is where a lot of Eisner's mistakes lie. Though he was responsible for gigantic theatrical bombs like The 13th Warrior. Eisner was a very experimental man more than anything, and I'll admit, it was very fun seeing what weird things he'd pull out of his hat, even if it was understandable that it wasn't good for Disney's bottom line in the long run.

I just realized that the best Harley Quinn content rn is the animated series franchise. Comics are comics, gaming ain’t going so well, and Margot Robbie is probably being recasted for the DCU…you’d think the rest of DC would’ve had more good Harley content going on atm

Yeah about how we haven’t seen it without a cover…

Well now we have a full video of switch 2 seemingly without any cover on it, console and everything:

The first leak without a cover and it is a 3D render

from a company with no direct ties to Nintendo (leading to concerns about validity)

and it seemingly conflicts with other rumors about how the dock looks

the ride will never end, even when the console is out, the ride will never end

The conflicting information is interesting. Because even the more believable stuff has things that contradict one another.

I wonder if there was an earlier prototype with different specs or design and that might be where the conflicting info comes from.

I'd like to perform a census. What have your experiences with Whitney, the infamous Normal-type gym leader in Johto, been like?

A lot of people have struggled with this much-maligned mischievous master of Miltank. I think one of the big reasons is connected to your starters. First of all, for stupid reasons they're almost always male, and thus are easy prey for the female Miltank's Attract. But another reason I think is attached to how Cyndaquil is the popular choice for the starters in Johto. Y'know. The Fire-type starter. And Miltank knows and spams Rollout, a ROCK-TYPE MOVE. Arguably Chikorita is the best option here, as its bulk makes it easily stand up to Miltank's attacks, though it might still worry about flinches from Stomp (which admittedly the Cynda line is usually fast enough to get past, but given Miltank's bulk and Rollout, it'd be too risky to use a frail Fire-type against her anyway)

Typically I have a bad habit of overleveling, but Miltank is still usually bulky enough to live quite a few hits, so she's usually more annoying than difficult for me - but I know it's different for a lot of others, so I'd like to know your experiences!

I have played through with all three starters and never really had an issue with Whitney's Miltank.

You know you don't have to send your starter out against Miltank?

Hopefully whoever succeeds Iger, it will be someone who has more reliability than Chapek and ensure that all studios are provided with more creative control within the quality of their projects.

But at least they prevented the likes of Nelson Peltz and Ike Perlmutter from getting a place within the Disney board.

Now I should to hit the breaks when it comes to figure purchasing for a while. I already have a figure shipment for later this month I need to pay for and I should take the 3 months grace period Bandai is giving me to save up some cash

I remember Whitney being a bit tough, but I also knew about the Machop trade, which made it a lot easier.

Honestly, the worst part of Whitney isn't Rollout, it's Attract.

I had zero issues with her because I always over level Cyndaquil.

But if a person does have issues, you can also mudslap to lower accuracy, in-game trade for machop, bayleaf learns reflect, use onix, nindorina with double kick.
