Next smash is a switch 2 launch title. Your reaction?
I am not sure if I would want that. I know Melee was an almost launch title for the Gamecube, and if I recall, Brawl was going to be a launch title for the Wii, too, but Smash Bros. is a game series that has games that require care and great amounts of development. I mean a Switch 2 Smash Bros. would be nice for launch, but honestly, I prefer to take their time at this rate and make it release at a time like the second year of the console.

Meh

I think Smash is better served as a second or third year game. New Smash cycles are cultural events at this point, they take up all the attention from both fans and Nintendo itself.

With the new console incoming the focus should be pointed at a few launch titles like a 3D Mario or Mario Kart, with some base Switch games like Prime 4 and ZA bringing up the rear.

No need for Smash to suck up all the hype for now, there’ll be plenty of time for that later.

oh cool I got your attention.

Next on my agenda is Monster Hunter. Since your a big fan, I was thinking of getting Rise since that was the most recently updated one. Should I get it on PC or Switch?
Either version is solid, obviously PC is better if you want better performance but the Switch version is still good enough.

Got Brothership and Echoes of Wisdom among my Christmas haul, along with tons of new clothes, a bunch of new tools to help with housework and DIY maintenance in general, CD cases so I can make some new discs and playlists, and even a Playstation 5.

The latter is something I partly wanted even though I'm a bit late to the party so that I could play some more video games with my family members. I deliberately skipped out on the PS4 as there weren't enough console exclusives on it to grab my interest, but the PS5 seems to be a strong console with tons of great multiplayer and single player games alike, exclusive or otherwise. I might be late to the party, but I still see myself getting many years out of the console as I have with pretty much all of my previous ones.

saw on Famiboards rumors about Pharrell Williams doing something with Nintendo. Also Sabrina Carpenter is there, giving the lyrics "Switch it up like Nintendo" a new meaning.

Except that Madame Web did not make a "Madame" We-billion" dollars though.

Other than that, guess the Sony CEO and I must had watched something different if he thinks the film is not bad.
Yeah the CEO straight up blames the failure of the SSU on critics and people unnecessarily hating on it. He fails to believe that his company produced several ultra low quality ****e tier films which fans totally rejected.

Anyways, all that came to $60. 20 dollars a pop. Mario Kart 8 today goes for $60. A game that's over a decade old.

This should be illegal.

Donald Trump, if you can hear me, do something about this.
Trump quite literally will increase prices across the board if he gets to enact his tariffs. Pray he doesn’t get his wish.

Happeh Berfdei, my fwiend! :b:
So how was the movie?
It was really great! Definitely the best in the series.

A few days ago, I was looking for Sonic/Mufasa memes and I accidentally ran across a thumbnail with Amy in it, so I did get spoiled a little bit.

That's suck that you were spoiled on Amy. I did my best to avoid spoilers until last Saturday when I saw the film with my best friend. While I did pop off with Amy's reveal, I got a bigger pop off with Metal Sonic partly because someone on here posted an image of New York and I thought the next villain would be Chaos. I was so glad to be wrong!

Rewatched Infinity War

I have a soft spot for this movie, derived from the fact that I went to the Midnight showing of it, and I still really enjoy this movie. Yeah, it is basically one long fight scene, but it's good action. I like how every major character also gets at least one big moment, either in the story or in the action. Thanos is a good villain, not in the "Thanos did nothing wrong" type of good but the "Wow this guy is a genocidal monster and believes literally everything that comes out of his mouth, I want to see him destroyed" type, the CG on Thanos also still looks fantastic. the whole second half of the movie where the feeling of dread increases in every scene is still great and the ending still hits.

I finally beat the glohm version of gobblick in brothership.

I got my ass beat about 20 times. Really made me have to play it smart by using the battle plugs smartly and switching them when need be.

It was a challenge and being 7 levels under recommended probably didn’t help, but it was still a fun fight. Hope more of the fights in this game get like this.

I like making smash movesets but doing them for Final Fantasy characters is exceptionally tough. At least from the classic era. It’s not like Pokemon where they have a huge list of moves for even melee attacks. Unless it’s a spell or a special ability it’s just press attack to hit them with your weapon.

I guess I gotta learn how people fight with those kinds of weapons to build the moveset.

That's the most fun part of moveset designing for me

idk movesets with nothing but references feel a bit forced to me unless they have a good reason for it.

Idk, it’s just hard for me to think in that way. My brain just wants to be “they attack with this weapon in this direction” for all of them and that’s boring as hell.

Then maybe you don't have a strong fighter concept.

Is this about a specific character?

I’m working on a concept for the warriors of light from the first final fantasy.

Basically before the match you pick four of the six classes from that game to be your party. And you can switch between them, but only after landing a successful counter. I got the idea after remembering what Sakurai said about the fire emblem counter attacks being meant to represent turn based combat. So in this case, after you defend it’s the next characters turn. And the order and party composition being in the hands of the player would allow for all these crazy combinations and setups with payoff later.

I know they would never do it this way but I’m taking an idea and running with it for fun.

I guess I could look at Dissidia but only one if the ff1 party members is even in that game and from what I’ve seen he really doesn’t fight like his in game counterpart at all aside from using a sword and shield.

I’ll definitely look at Dissidia later when I do Terra and Kefka though.

Yeah, that sounds a bit too complex, though I'm interested in seeing how you'll pull it off.

There are some references to FF1 in the Warrior of Light, like how he throws items to cast elemental magic and can change his class.

Though maybe Onion Knight in Dissidia is a better reference for that kind of mechanic.

Christmas is over, time to switch over to the next holiday. 🎊

Finally started playing through The Crowned Tundra in my copies of Sword/Shield. I'm starting to see why Dynamax Adventures is well regarded as I was able to catch a Shiny Lairon on my 2nd run (1st run in Shield) and a Shiny Xatu a short time thereafter. Still not a fan of Dynamax as a mechanic, but I can see the rougelike appeal.
