So, what exactly do we know about the Pokemon DLC coming in less than a month? Feels like they're talking way more about the one coming out in the winter.
-You take a class trip to a small town in the Poké-Japan countryside to participate in a local festival
-There's a girlboss and her little brother who you start to hang with
-Little brother gets jelly that you're befriending his sister
-There's some kind of folktale about a monkey, a dog, and a bird ****ing up an evil ogre
-Ogerpon will probably just be a little misunderstood scrunkly UwU
-You can play low-poly Pokémon Snap with Adaman's great great great granddaughter
-Dripplin

Just finished Blue Beetle, and it's definitely in my top five for DC cinematic universe movies and one of my favourite movies this year. I knew very little about the character going in, but some of the themes really resonated with me, and I liked how Jaime's suit was practical effects rather than CGI.

They did a good job at making the universe feel lived-in without specifying whether it's in the old continuity or the new one. Aside from Batman, I caught references to Ted Kord, Dan Garrett, Superman, the Flash, and possibly Green Lantern.

As far as movies that I've seen this year, I'd probably arbitrarily rank them as follows:

2023 movies.png

(haven't seen would be anything that's not on the list; I wouldn't call the movies in C-tier bad, but they're flawed, forgettable, or dumb but fun, in that order)

Welp, the weather here just got more intense.

Nothing too severe, but it's been raining literally all day and the winds we're getting now are some of the strongest I've ever seen.

I thought the premise would be entertaining, but a surprisingly large amount of movies came out around that time that I wanted to see (Ant-Man, Shazam, Creed, John Wick), so I had to draw the line somewhere.
Ya oughta still give it a watch at some point. It's worth it.

And 65 as well. Kylo Ren fights dinosaurs!

Where are you? By which, I mean I don't want your address or the area surrounding it, but are you in the area where Hurricane Hilary is supposed to hit?

SoCal like my profile says.

I don't live particularly close to the coast, so at worst we might lose power here later, but we're still very much getting some of the tropical storm's effects.

Sorry to hear that. Whatever happens, I hope it doesn't do too much harm in your area.

Though I hear there was an earthquake somewhere in California by the time the storm hit.

Many Shantae fans' favorite song is "We Love Burning Town"

Me? I get down with "Back to the Roots (Cackle Tower)" from The Pirate's Curse.

I hate the fact that clothing is gendered beyond belief because men's fashion sucks balls. Like I'm jealous of ladies fashion, they get a ton of variety and almost everything looks good on them whereas the pinnacle of mens fashion is khaki shorts.

The Trading Card Game GB games probably take place outside the Pokémon world.

No real-life Pokémon are present in those games.

Was thinking about catching my Shiny Teddiursa in a Moon Ball since, ya know Ursaluna.

Then I realized I don't have one, and I'm not spending an ungodly amount of hours on the auction again, **** that.

Most of the dinosaurs are amalgamations of generic saurian features mushed together rather than anything recognizable from the fossil record.

Most obviously with that giant quadruped, which is like nothing known to have existed during the Cretaceous Period.
(The quadruped might be an attempt to depict a rauisuchian, closest equivalent to that thing in real life would be Fasolasuchus from the Triassic)

Almost EVERY animal appearing in the film is a carnivore, including theropods, pterosaurs, and animals that look like early archosaurs.
(it's a good thing they got wiped out, so the Earth can be rid of such vile, slobbering beasts)

The only herbivores that appear are the remains of a dead hadrosaur and a juvenile, bipedal ankylosaur who gets instantly killed.
(Stegosaurus, Anklyosaurus, and Triceratops got cut... would been fun to see aggressive dangerous herbivores, too bad we humans think of carnivores as movie monsters...)

What a mess, end of talk.

I think it was confirmed that you only have three in-game days before The Teal Mask crashes the moon into the Pokemon world, unless you can summon the help of the Loyal Three to catch the moon and send it back to space where the moon should be. They also hit Deoxys with the moon, making a new type of Deoxys called Mooned Forme, which attacks in the end game.

I seriously need sleep.

Thought I'd spend the tropical storm playing video games, but since I have a bad migrane I'm spending most of my time with my eyes half-closed listening to video essays about Google algorithms and Pikmin Louie instead.

I agree with those criticisms, I still enjoyed it for what it was never the less. A dinosaur movie that wasn't Jurassic Park/Jurassic World.

Could've benefitted being R-rated, having a group of survivors (Leading to tension who'd live and who dies, all while still keeping the focus on Mills and Koa), and as you already mentioned the dinos being more accurate (Raptors at least being feathered, featuring herbivores).

I recall a rumor also that quadruped theropod might be a reference or throwback to the slurposaur or even Rhedosaurus. Never the less, I like to pretend it was an oversized rauisuchian.

Yeah, so the theory that he wasn't doing the voice acting for Mario in Super Mario Wonder? That's true.
Oh Christ I had a mini heart attack right then and there.

But yeah, end of an era. Voice for 30 years, here's to hoping the new one goes for 30 years more.

Jesus Christ I thought he was dead for a second

This is kinda sad, Charles has been Mario since before I was even born. But I figured this had to happen eventually. At least he’s still involved with the franchise, and he always seems to be enjoying himself.

It’s not like they’re the most complicated voices in the world, but I hope whoever they got to replace him does a good job. Charles was part of why they’re so beloved in the first place.

And Mr. Martinet?
