My family is now trying to convince me to sell my photos.

On one hand its nice that they like my photos so much but jeeze, I'm still just an amateur goofing around at nature parks. I don't even understand what every button on my camera does yet. Starting social media accounts and trying to build a following early is not a bad idea, but I'm still not at the level I'd like to be at yet.

I know they're trying to be supportive but way to give me imposter syndrome, family.
I also have a "turn all of your hobbies into profitable talents" parent and yeah, it can be hard to deal with.

Maybe telling them you're taking photos to destress and adding additional workload on top of it won't be beneficial would work?

There’s nothing wrong with starting without knowing everything. That’s a good thing actually, means you can grow and really show off your skills as time goes on if it’s something that interests you.
You're absolutely right. The problem is that my family seems to think I'm better at photography then I am - they're comparing me to National Geographic photographers which strikes me as just rediculous.

I'm afraid that probably wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure "destressing" and "reducing workloads" are alien concepts to them. Last time I said I was fighting workplace burnnout my mom suggested I take college courses to "keep my mind occupied".

Yeah, that sounds like my mom. I had to stop showing her my writing and drawing once she realized that I didn't intend to send my work to publication or get any certificates because she was no longer supportive.

The only hobby I have that she's fine staying as a hobby is reading and even then I have to keep adding reference books to my reading lists to keep her satisfied.

I've had my posters constantly fall off my walls today cause of how hot it is. Blu tac sucks.

And my massive Violet Evergarden poster fell on my head during a meeting so that was embarrassing.

Sounds like your parent has that "every second of your life must be constructive" mindset.

Like man you need to time to breathe.

DAILY DEMON SHOWCASE

This showcase's demon is of the Deity race:

1660314238155.png

“I am Deity Prometheus. Even if I am to be chained to a rock, my duty is to give you wisdom...”

Alignment: Light-Neutral

Origin: Greek mythology. A Titan whose name means “forethought”. He sided with Olympians against his brethren and was then tasked with populating the world by Zeus. After his brother gave all divine gifts to animals, Prometheus had nothing but a stolen fire to give humans. He later taught humans how to trick gods with sacrifices, causing gods to chain him to a rock, where an eagle would eat his liver every day until Heracles freed him.

Skills: Megidola, Recarm, Maragidyne, Concentrate

Next time, you will meet a demon of the Holy race.

While his cape makes it hard to see Prometheus’s silhouette, he still has a striking design with sunken, shadow eyes contrasting the bright fire he offers. His name is practically synonymous with forbidden knowledge and he looks the part of a wise old man. Some games give him the skills Recarmdra, allowing him to heal his allies at the cost of his own life; a perfect fit for his legend.

I'll be bringing my Super Smash Bros. Melee Battle Cards deck to tomorrow's board game night.

Doubt I'll be able to get anyone to play it with me though.

Having watched The Iron Giant again this week. It definitely has to be one of my favorite animated films period. Such an overlooked classic.

And also before we had Lilo & Stitch. Basically Warner Bros. equivalent.

Two outcast kids (Horgath and Lilo) who likes to be weird befriends an alien being from another planet who upon meeting them as they were designed for destruction and conqueroring has a change of heart and said kids gives them an inspiration to look up to. Superman for the Iron Giant, Elvis for Stitch.

Makes me more want to see Horgath and the Iron Giant and Lilo Stitch meet each other. Surprised there's no fanart of that.

Lilo and Stitch is massively nostalgic to me. And I love the artstyle.
They're both really good movies but I can see why most would prefer Lilo & Stitch. Helps too it's more well-known and popular whereas The Iron Giant has its cult following.

IMO I can't really choose tbh. Though I'd go on to say I like The Iron Giant just slightly more but not by much. Lilo & Stitch comes really, really close. IMO

Gotta love how the only thing WB seems to take away from the Iron Giant is him being an "epic death laser mode robot" and then try to highlight that aspect whenever they cram him into other stuff, which completely misses the entire point of him and his movie

They were super close to getting him right in Multiversus, though sugarcoating the laser mode as a "protect friends" mode was pretty dumb, lol.

It's bad to kill. Guns kill. And you don't have to be a gun. You are what you choose to be. You choose. - The Iron Giant

Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. - Lilo & Stitch

I watched it in theaters.

I left early into the movie for some extremely stupid reason because I was 5 and I was stupid.
That movie was in theaters before I was even born, meaning I can legally call you grandpa

Also that happened to me with the Wallace and Grommit movie because it genuinely scared me as a kid, still haven't watched the full movie to this day

Oh no, it wasn't that. It was really, really, stupid.

It's because the movie was the length of a typical movie. Which I should've already been used to by that point.

Lilo & Stitch is such an interesting Disney film.

It was really only made so they could have a bit of a cheaper to make film in a time where the budgets were pretty high and not always paying off (eg.Atlantis). They also practically gave the directiors pretty much full creative control and such (Which Emperor's New Groove development can tell ya is not always a given). It was practically kinda sorta an indie Disney film in a way. Probably wouldn't have been made today

Also, it was almost fully produced and animated and stuff in actual Disney World. Same with both Mulan and Brother Bear

I haven't seen Iron Giant and it's been well over a decade since I've seen Lilo and Stitch
I remember seeing the Iron Giant when I was young in cinemas and Brad Bird was the director at the time who then went on to direct the Incredibles film.

Also that happened to me with the Wallace and Grommit movie because it genuinely scared me as a kid, still haven't watched the full movie to this day
I never seen the Wallace and Grommit movie, but I do recall watching the likes of "Wrong Trousers", "Grand Day Out" and the "Close Shave" which they were still classics from Aardman animations.

Anyways:

So we're getting Ben and Mary Parker in Madame Web?

Decided I'm gonna watch Brother Bear and original The Land Before Time next Tuesday and Thursday.

Make it the week for animated prehistory movies.
Oh here's a fun fact that I already shared, but John Lasseter hated Lilo and Stitch so much that he decided to completely hijack another in development movie called American Dog and tried to show the director of Lilo up by making...

Bolt.
Too bad for him Lilo & Stitch was a better movie. Not to say Bolt wasn't bad by any means.

Same directors then got picked by up DreamWorks to work on a little project there. You might've not heard of it. Had something to do with training dragons I think.

Also, Bolt is probably up as one of the most "that exists" film in the entire canon, lol.

Imagine in an alternate timeline where How to Train Your Dragon was Disney but Lilo & Stitch was DreamWorks. 🤔

Lasseter, on the other hand, would get fired for being a sexual predator
