I also have a "turn all of your hobbies into profitable talents" parent and yeah, it can be hard to deal with.My family is now trying to convince me to sell my photos.
On one hand its nice that they like my photos so much but jeeze, I'm still just an amateur goofing around at nature parks. I don't even understand what every button on my camera does yet. Starting social media accounts and trying to build a following early is not a bad idea, but I'm still not at the level I'd like to be at yet.
I know they're trying to be supportive but way to give me imposter syndrome, family.
Maybe telling them you're taking photos to destress and adding additional workload on top of it won't be beneficial would work?
