I'm not even a Final Fantasy fan and I love Sephiroth. That victory screen man, even better than Joker's.

No, holding it off until the end would be terrible.

The fact that the Miis were shown off early means that they were at the very least aware of his popularity and wanted to rip the band aid off early. Holding it until the end would just make it sting worse.

I mean, like, have him come with FP11 or something. But... man I'm just.... I'm really upset about this. It's like... you know he's popular. You've already done obscure "irrelevant" characters, some from third party companies, just because the fans wanted you to. So why do you just skip Geno? Like... I really don't understand.

And like... he could still get into future games. But future games won't be Ultimate.

I’m happy it happened so fast. Now the Geno fanbase (me included) can accept that he won’t be in the game and move on.

Maybe hope for other characters, maybe distance themselves from smash all together. Either way, now they have closure. Instead of chasing something that wasn’t meant to be all the way to Ultimate’s end.

I don't know. Like... I don't know anymore. I'm still hoping for Crash but this was just such a big request. And now we're just supposed to give up an accept that it will never happen? I'm sorry, I just don't see how that's fun. Like... I just... I don't know. This almost feels like... some sort of carmic retribution or something for how the toxic people in the fanbase acted. I just.... man.... they....

I don't think I'm excited anymore. I really don't think I am anymore. It's just not fun. I'm tired of waiting months upon months with no news in sight only to get one reveal that ranges from bad, to meh, to actually pretty cool, but to also get another dream character shot down each time. It's like we can't have a purely good presentation anymore. Which is so disappointing because it constantly felt like we were getting nothing but hit after hit in FP1. But then Byleth happened, ruined the streak, and they've yet to get it going again because they keep sabotaging their momentum with these damn costume reveals and including the likes of Steve as playable characters.

It's not fun anymore. It's draining. And keeping everything so close to the chest like this is so agonizingly painful that it makes the sporadic news we do get sting way worse then if we got more consistent updates. I just can not see the logic in that.

And no, this is not closure. This is just... I don't even know what.

Oh yeah it's a looker. Wished it had stage hazards but can't complain.

Really proud they took inspirations from Dissidia Final Fantasy though. I loved the PSP games.

Also if you guys haven't: Play Dissidia Final Fantasy.

I would but my brother's PSP broke.

On that note i wish we got Crisis core FF7 content.

I doubt he's that popular. In the Smash community sure but if you asked a random person on the street "Sephiroth or Geno?" odds are they'll know who Seph is but not Geno.

Course that doesn't mean he couldn't have gotten in, but Seph getting in over him was pretty much a death sentence already.

Remember that it's perfectly fine to express anger over a character disconfirmation and to criticize the choices, but not to personally attack the character of the director and developers over it.

Try to enjoy what the game offers as is, but if you're truly no longer interested in the game over recent revelations, that's fine, too. You do you. Just be civil about it.

I'm still personally only interested in the songs. I have an intense, burning indifference to Sephiroth himself.

TBH I was more interested in seeing if Geno was gonna be disconfirmed than the presentation itself. Seph is cool still but I'm overall indifferent to him: I know who he is, what's he from, yknow all that, but he's just cool. Nothing mind-blowingly amazing, and not one of my wants(but that was a given anyway considering my tastes)

Is it bad that I was more hype for the music than Sephiroth? And I'm already super hyped for Sephiroth to begin with! There's definitely a few more tracks I would've liked from the game like Birth of a God or Crazy Motorcycle but I was not expecting Cosmo Canyon! That's a nice surprise! And we got JENOVA FINALLY!!!

Plus.....Guess I'll be using Mii Brawler, so it's like I got TWO characters :D I will download all of the Mii costumes that are coming out, because more FF content!!

It's actually pretty neat that Sephi's classic mode is a Boss Rush...I mean I would've preferred the option of being able to use any character but hey Sephiroth vs. Ganon in an actual Nintendo game?! Hello!?

And that Sephiroth Boss Mode looks neat as well, I purchased the full pass so I'll be beating the snot out of Sephiroth for sure! Definitely gonna use Cloud first time.

Geno has none of that. You're comparing apples to iphones.

You forgot that Banjo also was the main character of his own game and had his name even in the title. Geno is just another one off partner from a spin-off (which, side note, didn't even make it to the EU until the Wii days). And to me personally, utterly forgettable in the sea of all of Mario's other RPG partners, especially compared to the Paper Mario crew.

I didn't want to touch the whole Geno debate at first, but after seeing my boy Banjo being slandered like this, I had to.
