Illumination has actually made good movies. Not a lot, but it’s been done. And say what you will about Teen Titans Go, there’s some funny episodes in that show. So having a writer from TTG work on this may not guarantee it’ll suck. Not to mention Miyamoto will at least make sure it’s accurate to the source material, unlike of the 90s movie. And Jack Black as Bowser is gonna steal the show, regardless of the rest of the film’s quality.

Now that’s not to say the movie can’t be bad, it certainly can be. So I guess I don’t have faith exactly, but I’m not going all in on it’s sucking. I’m willing to give it a shot and see how it looks.

But if it’s gonna be bad, I hope it’s hilariously bad.

I think this sums up my thoughts on whether or not Illumination will do a good job on the Mario movie:

If they can just make it as good as the first Despicable Me film, though, then they're set. Even the sequels are decent, compared to their other work.

My curiosity regarding the Mario film next year is the reason its listed amongst my most anticipated films of next year and the fact a Mario animated film has been kinda long overdue.

Being blunt: eh. Outside of the first Secret Life of Pets I never really enjoy their films but the cast work is going to be ****ing gold. Jack Black as Bowser has to be one of the choices ever made.

As long as the comedy is paced enough and their is a very distinct feel lighting or such wise...................I'm happy.

Not so much a fan but more very divided on the whole game. If it wasn't for one of the FFs before (Lightning Returns: FFXIII) I'd say it's the most divisive game I've ever played personally.

I think a "Nintendo Cinematic Universe" or as we would describe as Smash Bros. would work better as an anime then it would an animated cinematic universe if I want to be honest. Even then wouldn't expect the former to happen at all and more likely then not Nintendo films whether also animation or live-action being all separate.

I'm a bit worried about the movie turning some characters into the Minions as well, but IIRC, neither the Secret Life of Pets nor Sing have an equivalent to the Minions, so we might actually not need to worry about the Mario movie having their own equivalent of them at all.

Maybe Illumination learned their lesson after the fish in The Lorax.

I hated the cooking and camping in the open world. It was just so barren. And the quests... there were so many it felt like I was playing an MMO. I like the setting, but the hobbies were like putting sprinkles on water. Sure, sprinkles are nice but water is still flavorless and bland. And the story was awful. Just so awful.

Ultimately I think this comes down to what percentage of the game the stuff you outlined above we think comprises of the game.
