Most people probably would have been all "Who?" because they expected something big like Crash or Sora.

Sora being added on later because he was declined the first time also fits perfectly with what Irmahn Khan said about Nintendo trying to negotiate Sora prior but being rejected. Although he still thought there was a good chance they went back to the table for him. Which Seems To be the case.

It certainly stands that it was by luck due to Nintendo's relationship with Microsoft we ended up with two western originated characters which were Banjo and Steve.

Banjo's history with Nintendo also having especially helped too.

Kazuya would probably be more accepted by the Smash community more than Corrinetta or Byleth if he was the finale.

It's hard to say how Kazuya woulda been received if he was the last one.

Given that he came right after PyThra, and Smash fans and FGC fans don't have the biggest overlap...

I think it woulda gone like this:

FGC Smash fans:

"Nice. It's an expected pick due to Tekken always being one of those 'probably happening eventually' series, but it's still cool nontheless. Excited to see how they translate Tekken through him!"

Meanwhile, non FGC Smash fans:

"Who da hecc this guy, I thought the Tekken dude was an old mustache guy? Didn't he get Mii'd?"

...And "that" part of Smash would...

But tbh they're always gonna do that, some even did with Sora, so

Granted, there may have been more hostility for the pick given it would probably be viewed as a "typical" whelming Smash finale, especially after PyThra. Speaking as someone who adores playing Kazuya and Tekken music, NGL it woulda been a whelming end for me personally.

They may have shuffled things around. If they wanted the best for last like they did, it could have very well ended on Sephiroth or Steve.

Proud Mode in KH1 FM is no ****ing joke. Even normal Heartless can take me down real quick and the boss battles aren't nearly as mindless and force me to analyze their patterns.

But I'm currently enjoying the game a lot more than I did back then.

KH1 Proud is super hard. I've only played a bit of that difficulty mode, but I'm definitely looking forward to picking it back up at some point. I wanna replay through the whole series and play them on the hardest difficulties if I can.
