Why the extreme close-up on the text.

It's so weird & unprofessional, I love it.

Don't care much about the spin-off news, but wow, the BDSP and Legends Arceus news we got from today was really hype!

I'm even more hyped for BDSP now!
  • The graphics look much more polished now!
  • Very surprised to see they will have trainer customization considering what happened in ORAS with that, but this a welcome addition!
  • Love that they expanded the Underground with those new lairs where you can catch Wild Pokemon now.
  • Platinum Dex confirmed! That's perfect! We'll get a good selection of Fire and Electric-types. I also saw Lanturn in the trailer, so there's a chance we may see even see an even more expanded Pokedex! Also good for me since this means I will be able to replicate my Pokemon Platinum team and have a Gallade in the story team after all!
    • Only question remains is if the story will truly incorporate Platinum story elements. At the very least, I just hope Cyrus appears in the story just as he frequently as he did in Platinum.
  • Glad that Pokemon Seals are coming back!
  • The Following Pokemon feature returning once more is really good!
Legends Arceus looks even more dope now!
  • Ancient Regional Forms is a really cool idea and nice to see that they are still adapting regional forms for future Pokemon titles. I wish we could see those ancient regional forms in BDSP, but I already know that's looking to be very unlikely.
    • Hisuian Braviary looks a bit silly with the flashy glasses-like eyes, but I really dig the other three that were shown.
  • A bit surprising the name of the region isn't Sinnoh at first but instead Hisui (just like the maid from Tsukihime), but makes sense when considering the names of country's can change overtime.
  • This Galactic Expedition team has the ancestors of Professor Rowan and Cyrus that's for sure. Cyllene was surprising to see; makes me wonder if she will turn traitor later into the story (if there really is one that is; this is an open-world exploration game, so I don't think story will be that much of a focus).
  • Lol, we actually have the Survey Corps from Attack on Titan in the Pokemon World now. Now we just need Erwin Smith, Levi Ackerman, and Hange Zoe as members of the Galactic Expedition Team, and we are all set! Sorry, I just had to make that joke.
  • Those battle styles look interesting.
  • I remember thinking how cool it would be to bring Apricorns to an "ancient"-setting Pokemon game so that we can create Pokeballs; lo and behold, they did just that!
  • I had a mix of Dynamax and Blood Moon (from BotW) vibes from seeing those larger-style, red-eyed Pokemon encounters. Well, this should be interesting.
Really excited for both games!

my office, probably
I'm still a bit cautious about Legends. I'm excited for it, but whether I buy it or not comes down to how much content it's gonna have, so I'll wait for reviews.
…unless it magically leads to Decidueye getting into Smash, in which case I'll buy it day one.

Just saw the presentation and I'm honestly positively surprised, Legends Arceus got a pretty big glow up since last time, though I hope they touch up the characters and Pokemon a bit still. The textures were kind of blurry and the cel-shading clashes with the environment, but other than that, yep, it's the open world Pokemon game I always wanted. Feels kinda weird though having extinct forms for Unovan Pokemon in a game that's clearly set in ancient Japan.

BDSP looks great, colorful without being overly saturated, much better than the initial trailer, though I'm still not much of a fan of the chibi style. But hey, following Pokemon are back, which is nice, though seems like they kept the varying speeds from the SwSh DLC is Buizel is any indication, which is a bit of a bummer. Also character customization in a remake, never thought I'd see that day, but a shame we can only get pre-made outfits and not mix and match. But the fact they still keep quite about the Pokedex and didn't show any Gen 5+ Pokemon does worry me and kinda mirrors SwSh, where we only found out about the absence of Pokemon due to leaks, despite the games being close to release. I wish they'd be more open.

Pokemon Cafe Mix... exists, I guess? I honestly keep forgetting that it's a thing. And as for Unite, kinda surprised we still haven't seen anything about Blastoise. I know Sylveon had been datamined, so no surprise there, but not sure about mamoswine. Maybe I forgot about it, but it's a welcome surprise.

And lastly, geez N, how come Dena let's you have Reshiram and Zekrom?

But all in all, a pretty great Direct.

So...why did ORAS leave out customization if BDSP is going to have it? Not even having skin/hair colors?
They stated in the past that ORAS didn't have trainer customization features because they wanted Hoenn to be more about the adventure unlike Kalos which was more focused on "beauty."

But that's the key: this was in the past. Not only was ORAS developed by Game Freak and not a separate story, but they also likely had a different philosophy to the remake as well.

Seems like things have changed, and now they see the value of incorporating trainer customization even for the remakes. If this wasn't Masuda's guidance that suggested trainer customization, then it could've been a move on Ilca's part.

Wyrdeer is Normal/Psychic? Dude, thats a seriously awesome typing combo. Glad we got another Pokemon with that typing.

Normal's only weakness is Fighting, but because its also a Psychic type, its neutral damage. Psychic is weak to Ghost but because its also a Normal type, its straight up immune. So it's weak to only Bug and Dark.

Just hope its stats are good. Wyrdeer looks pretty cool.

I guess thats better than being Forced to play as a dark skinned male in Oras! Still mad about the lack of White Variants atleast add like 1 or 2 more!

Also maybe i should be more Specific! I like playing as darker chars sometimes But brendan was made Darker Skinned which is what annoyed me about this the most! Like for example i love Killer bee from naruto!

So after it was confirmed that they won't have ranked battles, I'm now pretty confident BDSP won't have The Battle Frontier either.

I still like the improvements and will probably pick em up because I'm a pokemon nerd like that.

Meanwhile I was always optimistic about Pokemon Legends and that game is shaping up to pretty much be exactly what I hoped it would be. Really looking forward to that one.

I really like the new regional variants. We stan Wyrdeer in this thread. #LetUsRegisterDeerInBotW2

Both games look pretty good. Lack of modern day forms in BDSP is a little disappointing but the updates to it are good.

Legends also makes up for it completely with a stantler evolution, a braviary form and a more ancient folklore looking growlithe. Plus the rest of it looks really good to. Definitely polished from before.

The new What-If episode (T'Challa/the Black Panther as Star Lord) was great, and definitely worth watching.

I'm assuming that Chadwick Boseman has more scenes later, since there were several shots in trailers that weren't shown here.
According to reports, Chadwick did 4 episodes of the season. So he should show up a few more times.

Cafe Mix hasn't gotten a new update in a year, it's fair you forgot about it.

See this is why I like regional variants

When have I ever felt the need to talk about Basculin or Stantler before this?
At the same time it means Stantler has something worthwhile about it and that is an unforgivable sin so I'm cancelling my preorder. I just skipped to the latest page but there's also a Manaphy event for BDSP

The games look even better than I thought they did previously.

I’m gonna get Brilliant Diamond and of course Legends later on. I’m very happy with the cool new stuff in BDSP and both it and Legends look fantastic.

I wonder if Giratina will have some part in BDSP? Three Pokémon were mentioned when the time and space stuff was brought up iirc, although I guess it could just appear in some cave or forest or whatever it was in the original games.
