Definitely play X1-4, and if you got the full set then also add 5 and 8 to the list. 6 and 7 I'll leave up to you, but I wouldn't recommend them.

I'm not a fan of Final Fantasy Orgin's artstyle. If it wants to be gritty, ok, but it's a prequel to FFI. Why do that when the opening scene of Final Fantasy on the NES has more color than that?

I'm not a fan of Final Fantasy Orgin's artstyle. If it wants to be gritty, ok, but it's a prequel to FFI. Why do that when the opening scene of Final Fantasy on the NES has more color than that?

It’s trying very hard to be Dark Souls.

Only part of it that bugs me is that I wish it balanced the gritty with a little bit of whimsy and levity like, well, most of the series does.

It’ll still be fun, but it’s a valid complaint I feel.
