I almost want to do a dramatic reading of this garbage.

We should make it into a worse version of High School Musical or Grease.

It would need a snappy title though, anyone have any ideas?

I'm thinking a pun about going deeper into a relationship (or sex) and brinstar depths being deep (and also hot) is probably the best direction

but I wouldn't associate myself with that so someone else make it

If Ridley turns out to not be playable, I'm going to lose all my respect for Sakurai, he has been teasing us since the Pyrosphere PotD, if he was just a hazard, reveal him with the goddamn stage! If he did, then fine, let's move on, but no, almost one year of teasing and then deconfirming him would be plain cruel, I don't believe Sakurai would do this, and that's why I am 100% sure of his inclusion. Also, before anyone brings the "what if Sakurai sees him as a boos only" bull****, he sees Waluigi as an Assist only, but it was plain and simple his deconfirmation, he KNOWS that we want Ridley, if you think Sakurai is that cruel to fans, then I hope your #1 gets super teased just to be deconfirmed

That's no longer programming, thats diving into the realm of art. And my art skills aren't even up to the 8 bit style indie games. I'm completely at the artists mercy in that department

Programming 2D games is definitely easier than programming 3D games (most of the time), and 3D game usually have a lot more overhead/things that can go wrong.

I've messed with both, but I'm currently working on a lame cool 2D game, which by definition will be indie, with as good art as I can afford xD.

The first time I played red version (I had juuust learned to read) I picked charmander, went to viridian city, tried to go to the elite 4, and got turned away where I needed the boulderbadge. Thinking it was telling me I needed a Bulbasaur, I restarted the game, chose bulby, and went back. Realizing my error, restarted once more for my charmander again xD.

But Blastoise is slightly less different than Ridley, and being weak to Charizard would give him more of a reason to hate things like it. I don't have anything against the 'saurs, they just don't fit the typical big cool monster look that kids used to be into. Like Bowser and Godzilla.

Making models do things in a 3D game is something I (or a programmer in general) should be able to do. I haven't worked much with that kind of stuff, but being a coder isn't about knowing lots of languages, it's about being able to pick up languages quickly. But something like that would probably be a big time sink.

But creating models is hard, and creating models that are supposed to transform (move) in any way is even harder. I've messed with that too, actually, and it took me like hours just to make a chess piece, untextured, lol

I have an idea for a game that's been brewing for a long time, but I envision it as a first person 3D game, and I really don't know how I'd start going about it with no assets. Maybe when I finally start trying to make that I'll make the Ridley thing as a warmup to 3D games haha.

Prime, the Super Metroid one has this "you're in for a fight now" feeling with his eye appearing and then him, he roars, and then you duel to the death.

The Meta Ridley and Omega Ridley fight in Corruption were very well-designed, awesome fights. That Meta Ridley might be my favorite because there's a heightened sense that you might not survive this one.

I realize earlier in the thread I made fun of Bandana Dee by comparing them to other questionable character choices, and I'm sorry.

Anyway, actual relevant things. IMO Prime 1 Meta Ridley, Prime 3 Omega Ridley, and Other M Ridley were probably some of the best ones. After that probably Super Metroid Ridley, if for no other reason than shelling his eyes doesn't work as well as it does in Zero Mission and Fusion.

Prime was my favourite. After a long game, you collect all the artifacts and put them all into the right slots... and then Ridley swoops in and destroys them. All that work, gone. You then shoot the crap out of him, and after the temple finishes him off, the Chozo Ghosts are like "for goodness sake are you serious" and open a portal themselves since Samus proved herself and all.

Prime 3's elevator shaft is a close second, with how amazing it is and how no other Ridley fight has been quite like that one.

Yeah, I'd pretty much parrot what everyone else is saying in terms of favorite Ridleys. Super Metroid built up to the fight pretty well with the fight at the very start, both Meta Ridley fights were simply awesome and Omega Ridley is pretty great too. Actually, I'd probably say Omega is my favorite because by that point he's a Radioactive Pirate Zombie Robot Mutant Space Dragon.
