My answer is, I don't. Because he is already in the game.
I'd like him to be Metroid's very-much-deserving 2nd rep in this next game. Don't give me the ZSS argument, it's still Samus and it's had enough games to warrant more representation in this one. With Dark Samus confirmed as an assist trophy, Ridley would be the next likely candidate to be playable, and with how ambiguous Sakurai's been about the shadow teasing, I'm almost tempted to say that he is indeed playable. I'm not gonna let my hopes get dashed if he isn't though, so I'm skeptical at best that he's just a boss with that paltry animation.
