I'm acknowledging that either outcome is possible, but if I were asked to bet money I would bet on Ridley's playability.
Personally, I'd bet money against Ridley.

The way I see it, if I won the bet, well, that's a real shame about Ridley, but at least I got some money out of it.

If I lost, whatever money I bet would be a worthy price to pay for having Ridley in the game.

Hell even I predicted Phantom being a move. At the time there was a definite pattern implying it would be a move and not an assist trophy, but noooo. I was craaaazy, it was so obviously an assist trophy. Until of course it wasn't an assist trophy. Then it was sooooo obviously a move and was never an assist trophy. :p Hindsight is wonderful.
I'll drink to that!

I haven't been wrong about TOO much. I was wrong about Lucario and Toon Link being cut, but so far that's about it. Am I a credible source now guiz? (No I'm not don't ask me things)

I agree 100%. Ridley is among my most wanted but I have no hope for him at all at this point. I'm prepared to make full apologies in this thread if I turn out to be wrong.

I don't know why this thread always ends up getting derailed practically every day. We have other threads that you can use to bring up such topics.

Unless you said at some point before last E3 that Wii Fit Trainer was an unlikely prediction of yours, then you can't possibly be a credible source.

If Wii Fit wasn't a pretty successful game franchise, I'd give that tons of brownie points. But as it sits right now, it's the 5th most profitable franchise that has gotten a playable character in Smash Bros.

Hey guys remember this stage that Sakurai avoided acknowledging what it was.....I remember everyone saying "Its not a Punch-Out stage!!!" hehehhe. Sakurai sure wasn't trying is mislead us riiiight? ;)

Why did it take so long for him to tell us what this stage was??? :awesome:

I-i-i-i just don't get what he could possible be trying to hide.....

Take a look at these images from Zero Mission

Don't these make Ridley look like some evil mastermind plotting it's next move? One doesn't need to talk for people to understand what their personality is, often gestures are all you need.
And that's the bridge of his mothership.

He's actually commanding it.

I dunno, as far as I know it was mostly just Gamefaqs that thought it definitely wasn't a punch-out stage that looked just like a punch-out stage coincidentally. Though tons of people are jumping ship on Ridley once actual tangible hints are coming up and not faces in the clouds. :p

I agree Sakurai didn't do an amazing job trying to mislead us with the Boxing Ring/Little Mac.

Just like I don't think Sakurai is doing a great job trying to mislead us about Ridley. Just like Little Mac he made it obvious Ridley was gonna be playable.

It's actually about the same.

Little Mac stage

At first glance: "Well it's a boxing ring but it says smash bros. on it so it's definitely not a punch-out stage. This might even deconfirm Little Mac."
After actually looking: "Wait, it may have the smash logo but otherwise this is LITERALLY a punch-out stage."

Ridley

At first glance: "Well they mentioned boss characters at the same time they showed RIdley's shadow. Ridley deconfirmed."
After actually looking: "Wait. He's really small for a boss and really SLOW for a boss on a pretty big stage, the stage most likely has some other lava-related hazard, and it's pretty obvious with the lack of sound, mention, AND the bizarre behavior and camera angle and zoom choices that this was staged."

Will it reach the same result? E3 shall be the final battle of the Ridley Wars before the beast is sealed away for another six years.

I can't help but wonder though, was this Sakurai's grand master plan from the beginning? I mean, the initial Pyrosphere quote was obvious, but was he also intentionally alluding to Ridley during the multiple times he mentions how canonical size doesn't matter in Smash? And what about that shadow, was that also planned from the start? Or did Sakurai realize that fans were expecting Ridley and threw in the shadow as a last minute red herring?

xD Yeah, when I did that blue sketch when Rosalina got confirmed...I couldn't stop myself...
I certainly didn't help either. :p

By the way that story I hinted probably won't appear for a while. My graduation is a week from tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll have time to write it during the next several days.

Oblivion, with all due respect, from the moment I saw that Boxing Ring I was positive that it was a Punch Out stage.
But more than a few people saw it, took it at 100% face value, and took it to mean it was a generic Smash Bros. stage because of the logos. Which is the thing. People actually analyzed the pictures, and came to see it was definitely a stage near identical to a punch-out ring, but it instead had Smash Bros. logos.

EDIT: You weren't exactly alone on that sentiment either, Kenith. A number of people thought something similar to it.

A lot of people were sure; but what made it not objectively a Punch Out stage? The GIANT Smash logo in the center. This hind-sight stuff really bothers me.

Oh I knew it too but alot of people were saying otherwise from what I remember.

Sakurai was attempting to mislead us....He just didn't do a great job. Only people he was fooling were people not familiar with Punch-Out and casuals.

Our THE Commander Ridley believes it is important that his fellow space pirate cohorts communicate effectively at all times. When sane.

This is basically the same thing, only with Ridley's playability status. A lot of people are taking what we're given in implications 100% at face value, and then later on we get a surprise reveal. Magical.

I know, right?

Before Rosalina reveal:

"Bowser Jr. or nothing. Rosalina is not popular or prominent enough to be in this game."

After Rosalina reveal:

"Totally saw it coming, they were promoting her ever since Galaxy."

Sigh.

Yep. It's a game of "saying something until it's right or wrong. If you're right, be an ass to everyone who was wrong. If you're wrong, go into hiding and pretend you knew it all along so you don't get dragged out and shot." Fun, isn't it?

So far, I have been on the "be an ass to everyone who was wrong" side. I actually haven't speculated a lot incorrectly as of current. I plan to keep it that way with Ridley. The only thing I didn't see coming was Greninja.

Ah, such is the sad truth of bandwagoning.

Which is exactly why Sakurai is trying even harder to convince the masses that Ridley isn't anything more then a hazard, and judging by how many believe his trickery, I'd say it's working. For all of them anyway; we're too meticulous to simply accept an ambiguous shadow as a 100% answer.

I don't think anyone expected Greninja. Like anyone.

xD Gotta love people....Well to be fair alot more people called Little Mac to be playable then Rosalina. I'm sure like nobody called Little Mac in Japan though. :troll:
