So I just caught up to this thread finally. And for some reason we're saying that personality is a factor too? I mean, it could help in choosing a character but it seems like something so far down the list for things to consider for character to be added. That other M concept art looks pretty cool, it fits a bit better than the final version.

And is their a way to get that Ridley emblem on a mug? cause it look cool.

I think Ridley should be a original Smash incarnation, like Fox, i can imagine him with his Other M body (dont hate me) with smaller hands and wings, Brawl Head, shorter tail, model improved like SSB4 Samus, resized, a good and not awkward stance, and there its goes, perfect Ridley for Smash.

That's because Other M sucked and Twilight Princess was much better. People are in denial about it, but it's obvious that Ridley's gonna be based off of Other M, likely with small edits like Samus had. It's just like the people that are in denial that Twilight Princess will be the basis of all the LoZ characters, most likely because otherwise Ganondorf wouldn't be able to keep up, and there's likely no SS character anyways so there's no reason to upgrade to SS.

No I liked pointing my WiiMote skyward . Only thing that TP did better is the Secret Sword techniqued and overworld map (which was boring and empty). Take heed, I like both games. But Skyward Sword was better than Twilight Princess. In dungeon design especially, and in the overall route it took. TP was just OoT 2.0. And it did a bad job at that. Impa was a good character from SS, yes, but back in the day, I liked Midna as much. Just didn't think she'd make a good playable character, but Impa does.

Anyway, Other M is 100% the design route of Metroid in this game. So expect nothing except Other M Ridley, probably graphically updated, but still: Other M Ridley.

Heck, the way it looks to me, if you DO get Ridley playable, which I have doubts about, he's gonna be stylized like Other M. Which is a travesty.

The tail is kinda cool but the head kills it. If Duck Hunt Dog were playable he would do bonus damage to Other M Ridley.

Nah, I'll definitely take Other M Ridley. While it's still the Ridley design I like the third least (in front of NES Ridley and Neo-Ridley) it's still Ridley and I still love the character. It's not even that it's directly ugly, it's just that it's so much less awesome than the other designs.

I'd gladly take him, particularly if they take from his concept/DoA design direction.

Link is based more on TP than SS. Thinking that Zelda will be based on SS, thus making Impa likelier, is dumb. Zelda will be based on TP, and so will Sheik, and so will Ganon. The only art style change would be Toon/Classic Link, should he show up in the game at all. Toon Link is the only time a member of a series has had a totally different art style than the rest, so there's no reason to believe Ridley will randomly be from a different game when everything we've seen from Metroid is based on Other M--and Sakurai is being very clear about that.

If we get Ridley, it'll probably be closest to Other M Ridley. Hopefully Sakurai makes him look a bit less horrendous.

I actually don't hate the Other M design for Ridley. Its not my favorite by any means, but it isn't terrible either. Meta Ridley was my favorite design, though I'm not really sure why.

Super Metroid Ridley would be my choice. Then skins for Meta and Omega Ridley, plus maybe Ridley-X, and Redley from the Super Metroid box art. I'd be okay with concept art Other M Ridley, and I'm resigned to getting what we actually got in Other M.

For some reason, the model turned out like this, but he's colored quite differently from his game counterpart... which I'm thankful for.

Pretty much just recolored his body more accurately to his in-game self. Looks pretty good without the giant muscles. Face isn't too terrible from this angle, either.
