Wii Fit Trainer and Mii Fighters by name are not lucky guesses.

Let me rephrase that: The majority of legitimate leaks have a few inconsistencies.
Everyone was so quick to disconfirm Gematsu because they didn't like it, but similarly to PokeBeach in the past, you can be spot on with some things yet completely off with others.
why gematsu is still brought up here? considering it never affected Ridley chances one way or another?

Why are they not lucky guesses? Mii's have a growing importance to Nintendo and have appeared in many games while Wii Fit sold tremendously.
Mii was predictable... them called "Mii fighters" wasn't. thats whats he is pointing.

I like how this thread is slowly turning into a "is Gematsu real or not" thread.

I personally think the often mentioned villain trailer with Ridley, K. Rool and Mewtwo would probably generate the most hype. Ridley being very requested here and the other two being highly requested pretty much everywhere.
Why is this thread turning into a "is Gematsu real or not" thread? It is and never was relevant to Ridley's inclusion.

Because I mentioned Chorus Kids as a plausible reveal pre-release and God forbid Chorus Kids are brought up!
I personally don't think Chorus Kids would be the best RH rep, but that aside I still wouldn't have a problem with them being included.
It's just that if you ask me, they would not really generate a lot of hype. Especially compared to characters like Ridley.

I don't see the Chorus Kids to be feasible at all, they apeared in a few minigames sure, but Karate Joe has appeared in every Rythym heaven game to date.

Take it from a big Rhythm Heaven fan; they'd be the perfect representative for the series.
Music based trio? That's two crucial parts of the Rhythm Heaven franchise.
As for generating hype, Wii Fit Trainer instantly comes to mind.

Not every newcomer has to bring Ridley-sized hype to the table.

Wii Fit Trainer came packed with Villager and long wanted 3rd party rep Mega Man, they brought the hype.
I agree not every character has to bring a ton of hype, but the (second to) last one before the release definitely should.

I hope the Chorus Kids don't get in just because of Gematsu, I want characters that I don't expect at all to show up.

:x
That's a good point, especially when it comes to odd-ball characters like that. I probably wouldn't have been nearly as impressed by Game & Watch if I knew he existed prior to playing Melee.

Finally got my hands on Ridley's animations from Other M, so here he is using my estimated height and his default stance next to Bowser.
Although he appears small, it's possible. It's like after adolescent stage but before his huge final form.

Also, I've got a hunch that we won't get any surprise-WTF characters. I think Wii Fit Trainer fit that bill, then Pac-Man rolled in to fit into a retro and 3rd party slot. I hope all that's left are high profile and/or highly requested characters :)

Sorry, what's going on here?
Louie G mentioned something about the Chorus Kids, people started discussing whether or not Gematsu is real, then more talk about Chorus Kids probably not generating a lot of hype.

So all in all nothing Ridley related. I'm not sure why.

Oh. These shenanigans. Well my thought is this.

If a leak is going to be as wrong as Gematsu was, it's fake. That's just how it goes. Shulk MIGHT get in on his own merits MAYBE. Chorus Kids I seriously doubt. Enemies in smash run don't confirm a playable character. They can be indicative of more content, for sure. But they don't actually confirm a new playable character. Even Kremlings only indicate K. Rool to be in the game in some way, not necessarily playable. Although people would consider it ideal.

And really, Ridley, should he be playable, seems like an exponentially more likely August direct reveal than Shulk. Ridley has been teased for a year now, and this could be the last newcomer. They'd be far more likely to actually give the teasing payoff than throw out a character they have never hinted at as the last reveal pre-release.

Home.
Assuming Ridley is a secret unlockable, those yearning to know whether or not Ridley is in the game would get their information from a potato-quality picture of the final roster and a forum explaining how Ridley works. I'd like to think that after this much buildup, that Sakurai would rather unveil Ridley with an awesometastic trailer.
What I'm thinking is, they'll keep all the hype-worthy chars as secret unlockables, but will introduce their trailers *after* the 3DS version launches to promote the Wii U version instead. By then we'll know the entire roster, but Nintendo's weird like that.

I guess it'd be a privilege to be saved as "best for last", to help keep up awareness of the development for Smash Wii U. It's... bitter-sweet, though. I still haven't bothered pre-ordering the 3DS version (the only one I'm planning to buy), since there hasn't been an incentive yet.

I think you just summed up my thoughts better than I could. I'm honestly more expecting a gimmicky RH stage than a boss. Like how Animal Crossing only had a stage in the last game. Possibly an Assist Trophy for RH too. (Along with the Smash Run enemy)

That's also possible, but no matter what scenario occurs, Ridley is either guaranteed a trailer, or Sakurai has no concept of drama.

I wouldn't believe even if the Chronic Bronchitis or whatever you call them happened. Because like I said, I don't move goalposts for leaks.

Hopefully we see the direct at the end of next week! If we do, then it could be the best of all good news. :p

Gematsu is still right though.

It's just outdated info, not wrong. Shulk and Chorus Kids are most likely still coming
I really don’t understand this viewpoint. I mean I get how you can say that the leak is correct but not 100% correct what with the whole WFT prediction but, what then is the point to a not 100% correct leak? I mean the Rosalina thing added some ambiguity to Gematsu in the fact that we knew that the characters leaked were possibly not the entire roster. Then the extremely clear deconfirmation of Chrom told us that Gematsu predictions have the possibility of being completely incorrect. So if the leak may not be the full roster and the characters in the leak might not even be in the game... what can this “leak” possibly tell us? the fact that it could be wrong or it could be right make it just as invalid as any other leak or prediction on the internet

End of next week sounds good, I hope it happens, I'm dying for more info. I hate the weekends just because the Smash site isn't updated.

The end of next week lines up with Metroid's 28th, which would be ideal. Though it could be the week after as well. But if it is I'd be expecting Ridley slightly less.

Same here. Of course I still compulsively check the site regardless of what day it is.

It's just logic. If stuff has changed, then it's outdated, not wrong.

This is not the place for Gematsu discussion though

"Outdated" is an exceedingly poor excuse to cover up for a leak that has been so massively wrong. But this has nothing to do with Ridley.

I'm really crossing my fingers for next week.

I know we're not on the subject of the LeakedSmash Twitter anymore, but I decided that I'd try to make an image like those in a short amount of time, and in just about 30 minutes I ended up with this:

Wow, are you playtesting the game or something? Can you tell us if Ridley is in the game?

If it's outdated, it's unreliable, and if it's unreliable I'm not going to bother with it.

Can somebody explain to me the Rythm Heaven Hype? All i saw when looking it up was badly drawn, utterly boring minigames which inputs might or might not fit a seemingly random background music. No, ty, I'mma stick to Theatrythm Final Fantasy if i ever want to play a Rythm game...or heck, Donkey Konga.
