I know we have some homo *** Laker fans on this forum... Anyone want to take bets? Edrees?

I'm taking bets ranging from $20 to $100 that the Suns beat the Lakers. But I get 2:1 odds on my bet (meaning if I win I get double whatever we bet and if you win you get whatever we bet). Anyone down?

Even if no one is down this is where you can talk about what is sure to be the Conference Finals in general, cause Cavs-Magic is sure to be hella hype too!

(And don't give me that "Celtics gonna win BS," it's gonna be Magic-Cavs and Suns-Lakers.)

If you can prove to me the Suns are really 2:1 underdogs, then I'll take the bet for my 40 and your 20.

Edrees should do a bet in which Lakers win in 6?
If lakers win 7 or lose, P wins
If Lakers win in 4 or 5, Edrees wins
Lakers win in 6 = push

Hmm Adam how about 1.5 odds? like Hugo said I don't think the suns are 2:1 underdogs. Maybe 3:2. So lets bet 20 - if lakers lose, I pay you 30, if they win you pay me 20. Deal?

done.

and it doesn't matter if either the lakers or magic get knocked out before the finals either. as long as one of those two requirements is met.

it's a wash if a major injury occurs. major injury will be defined as anything that keeps out a key player (that means fisher doesn't count but odom does; no one on the magic bench counts) for more than one game.

AND THAT MAJOR INJURY CLAUSE GOES FOR ALL OF MY BETS!!!!

agreed

i trust you to be reasonable about it (i.e. if the team somehow wins the games their key player is injured it still counts, if the key player can only play 15 minutes a game for 3-4 games, it might be negated, etc)

yeah absolutely. in the end the money is a small motivating factor; it's just more fun to be able to hold stuff over people's head in the long-term / get a lot more emotionally invested in the series

I think this will be a really good series. Match up wise I think it is pretty even as both teams are very offensive teams ( especially the suns ). And the suns have a good playoff series record against the LA lakers. I would not be surprised at all if the suns win the serious , but my money is on the lakers as they have been red hot lately ( sweeping the jazz, a very solid and very very good team at home )

it's like game 5, suns are up 3-1, kobe gets injured.

"Oh, well I guess the bets cancelled"

I dunno. It just seems wack

Dude magic are overrated they had two easy teams in the postseason and have an inconsistent style of play. Is three point shooting always consistent? Heck no but things like defense is, which is why Celtic will win then the lakers will **** all the way

defense wins championships

Cause their average height is like 7' and Kobe is a basketball god. Any team they play is going to have a really tough time.

i dont wanna waste time telling you how you're wrong cuz you're not gonna listen anyway. wanna bet me $100 on magic/lakers? straight up.

or any amount on magic/celts. i'll give you 3:2 odds on that one.

pockeedee, i was thinking, what about pre-existing conditions? we know kobe's finger and bynum's knee is messed up. if bynum lands on it wrong and it gets messed up why should i forfeit when we know that's a possibility going into it and he's willingly playing thru it? or if kobe's finger suddenly breaks. very unlikely but still.

how about we apply the specific injury-missing-games clause only to kobe and howard or something

and any other significant development should just be handled on a case by case basis; if we both agree, then we can void the bet. i think we're reasonable people

even though the lakers would be more significantly affected by a secondary player injury than the magic :)

edit: or get rid of the clause to begin with, since kobe going down for 4 games would be an 'obvious' big deal

The lakers 2nd best player, sasha vujacic, is injured. i can't take any serious bets without him being fully healthy, he's too integral to the lakers success with his shot chucking

alrighty

and the only reason the lakers would be more affected is because their team has less depth, which is a problem with roster construction and would just be a problem of them being a worse team. depth matters, although less so than the playoffs

god i'm so excited for suns/lakers. i'm not sure who will win but i **** sure know the suns will win at least 33% of the time, and if they do end up losing zomg no one is gonna give the magic a chance. i might have to go to vegas for that one.

But that's a known quantity Edrees, whereas future injuries aren't.

By the way, the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year are pretty crazy. A number 8 seed beat the #1 team in the league the first round, and then the defending champions the next round.

LOL

the lakers are gonna lose (to either the suns or magic, dun care which one) cause they dont give pau enough touches. it's as simple as that.

I don't know anything about basketball.

Stanley Cup Playoffs are on NBC for the Conf. Finals and Cup Finals. Sunday at noon Sharks vs. Blackhawks.

And holy ****. The Flyers were down 3-0 in the series vs the Bruins, then won 3 games in a row, and then were down 3-0 in game 7 before scoring 4 goals in a row to win the game and the series 4-3 just now. 3rd time in history that a team down 3-0 has come back to win. ****ing ridiculous.

The Flyers also happen to be the #7 seed, so the Eastern Conference finals feature a 7 vs an 8 seed, while the West is a 1 vs a 2 seed.
