and this is Sal's leak related because it's about pacman and these screens possibly further confirming his leak

It could also be an R. R and P look very similar.

True true... just a possibility, though it would be strange for a leaker to purposefully cut off pacman if he was on there and the guy is leaking info

Its pretty funny that if you just add the possibility for Ridley, Metwo, and K. Rool to be there (even if one veteran would have to be cut) you get such a positive reaction to the Gametsu leak. Of course, even if this select screen stuff was real, it in no way confirms K. Rool or Mewtwo, and there's still a good chance that's actually Anthony Higgs.

Looks like an R to me. And those deep red pixels look like they could be the top of a question mark, imo.

Yeah, but its what a lot of people seem to be jumping the gun to, since there's that extra slot in the DK area. Still, it could easily be Olimar or Falcon...or Dixie or Cranky. And either way you would need to cut a character for it.


Also, it seems that the explanation for the two different character select screens are that the one without Mega Man is for the demo, and the one with MM and Mac is for the tournament....though personally I think being able to give such an explanation at all makes it sound fake.

You only have to cut a character if it's a newcomer. If it's a veteran, cutting Snake is enough to suffice for the entirety of this.

or chrom or ike to the left of marth. however i think what has been proposed: Brawl - Snake + Sal + Ridley/Mewtwo( or at some other pokemon rep ) appears to be what this configuration alludes to.

of course just as likely you can throw ike or chrom to the left of marth or captain falcon or someone and then move olimar from next to Diddy and add a 3rd DK rep... though i think olimar being up with the other Miyamoto "mario" characters actually makes some sense.

Remember when Ness was hidden, then a starter, and suddenly hidden again, yet Lucas is a starter for no real reason?

Honestly, that's not much of a point. Remember when Ganondorf(villain), Wolf(villain), and Mewtwo(technically a villain in one movie for some of the time) were hidden? Bowser's a villain too. They could've changed his starter status to let Luigi be a starter for once.

As for the 3 being shown twice, something is odd about that. Sakurai is already doing new Team coloring rules. Maybe you don't choose any color period and you just choose Team 1, 2, 3? That might've been just that, while everybody else was random computers. This picture is a lot harder to break than others, I'd say.

I remember the E for All demo for Brawl didn't have every revealed character in it. Kirby wasn't available, for instance, and Sonic was playable despite not being a starting character in the final Brawl roster.

If the pictures are real then it's because something similar is happening, that's all.

It is possible the way the roster works on that smaller screen could be different. Probably less columns and more rows.

I find this roster the most believable. I now believe the Gematsu leak.

Lucas never registered as a clone in my mind, so everyone constantly cutting him sort of bugs me. Plus, it makes more sense to take out one of the Star Fox characters if you "must" remove someone.

In my personal experience, most people cut Lucas because they don't give a rat's tail about Mother/Earthbound. The argument I see the most is 'Mother is a dead franchise; it doesn't deserve two characters!'. So it might have to do with a built-up bias from years of roster speculation.

Well, we would need a 3rd DK rep OR 6th Pokemon (or another newcomer) if we were to believe this leak, the Sal leak, and only cut Snake, Squirtle and Ivysaur, correct?

I find Mewtwo slightly more likely, but that's just my opinion. I can't see Wolf being more 'justifiable' than Lucas to be honest. They're both 'semi clones' in pretty much the same thing. Similar B moves, completely different A moves.

I would honestly prefer a third DK rep or another newcomer over Mewtwo. If character DLC happens cut veterans would be on the top of the list, so I would rather see newer characters get their foot in the door.

I have a hard time seeing Lucas being cut over a Star Fox rep (or Pokemon having 6 reps in this scenario), but that just might be me.

Anyway, I doubt EarthBound is getting a third rep, much as I'd love that. So Ike goes to the right of Marth, Chrom next to him. That leaves another spot for another Pokemon.

I wouldn't rule out a third Mother rep, Mother remains huge in Japan.

To add to that, the three biggest series, Mario Zelda and Pokemon all having 5 characters seems like the neatest formation. Is there any basis for this wide expectation that Mewtwo will come back? I'd be very surprised.

originally i was expecting Lucas to be cut and replaced with a different Mother character, but now with Ike being announced I'm starting to think they just don't want to cut anyone.

If they did add another Mother character, obviously it'd be a Mother 2 character, most likely Jeff to represent the non-PSI users of the series.

Other than the fact that, next to Ridley, he's one of the most highly requested characters in the entire world? No, no real basis. Just a crap ton of fan demand.

The main thing that kinda weirds me on this is that if this IS a demo build why have locked squares at all? Why not just make a clean select screen with the characters to be featured in the demo? On top of that, it seems very odd to me that they wouldn't feature all 6 newcomers in the demo. Granted Brawl demos didn't feature all of the newcomers either, but there were a ton of newcomers in Brawl compared to what we have so far in 4. That being said this select screen is sick and I would totally be cool with it looking like this. Weird options like color and actually not showing off all the revealed characters does help a bit too. I dunno. We'll see.
