The roster, be it fake or not, is likely for 50 characters. Its three rows of what seem to cap out at 17, with the bottom right being a random select spot. There likely no row beyond Link/Pikachu/Mario(?)'s and the bottom right one seems to be not be a locked box. If its not Mega Man there, its a random box. If it is Mega Man though, then there could be more. It the Gematsu leak is true, it doesn't conflict with this, since there's a spot for Palutena and Chrom, and Pac Man (Mii, Shulk, and the Chorus Kids don't need to be lined up to anything really). The screen also suggests one more DK Rep, one more Pokemon Rep, and one more Metroid Rep. Also, if that is a random box, and you hold the Pac-Man stuff true, then its likely Snake's out, though Mega Man could be to the left of Sonic, though I doubt that.

Not true. Look at the edge of the right most picture. It's proportioned the same way that the column that features Luigi Zelda and Zard is. It suggests that there is one more column, symmetrical to the column that has Mario Link and Pikachu.

Bowser would be after Peach, then Rosalina after.

So, I wanted to ask: why people want this "leak" to be true so much? All of the unnanouced chars it lists, are chars that we KNOW will be playable, the only excepyion would be Chorus Men but no one would miss him

A good amount of the people who like it also like Pac-Man. There seems to be some correlation there. Beyond that, it may be people who want to think they know a leak. A lot of people were wrong with Brawl.

Seems like most of the discussion on the subject come from people who either A) hate the leak and believe it or B) like the leak and doubt it. I'm a B man, myselfs.

I disagree. Most of the people who are talking about this want it to be true and believe it. This thread was made to cheerlead the rumor more than anything else.

Is it really an excuse when we've seen it happen overall in reality?

I'm not saying "Yes, believe the leak!", but it's not a very good knock against him here at all. Can he help it when his information gets outdated? Or that he may have been fired due to the leaks?(well, the second one technically is his fault, but you get what I mean) The overall point is, these things happen but don't prove the leak wrong very well at all.

We need a lot better evidence to prove it wrong, or actual, things that outright destroy it. Something like Palutena disconfirmed as an Assist Trophy(or Chrom, actually. Palutena was somewhat blatantly going to be playable after we saw Sakurai's clear obsession with the character as is...).

You have to consider that he posted the "information," a day prior. So he probably got it within a week. If the information did get pulled, then

• The decision was made only a week prior to doing so (most of these decisions would be a little more thought out than a week)
• Six new characters were planned to be shown, but as of May 24, 2014, only six new characters have been shown in total
• Two of those characters, who we can assume were ready to be showcased back in June of last year, were not shown while two other characters were.

Again, there are a lot of inconsistencies in the information. Too many excuses have been made to keep this rumor afloat. Not to mention many other rumors were dumped for much less.

Well that upsets me. Bowser got some notable updates and has been confirmed since the initial reveal. It confuses me why he would be locked from the demo out of all the other possible choices.
And no Megaman either??? If this is real, it just killed my hype for this.

UNLESS, for whatever weird reason, they will actually be "unlockable" in the demo version.

Actually, looking at the one slot, there is a new problem created. That slot is red. All renders are shown with the blue BG. Another interesting piece to the puzzle. Can I see a conjoined Pic btw? I don't really see the symmetry as it is right now, as the inside edge of the last row in on the plane of the select box like the inside edge of column two is.

Also, Zero Suit Samus and Sheik are receiving character slots so that would explain the extra slot next to Zelda and Samus.

CPU difficulty level maybe? If they are all hovering over the random slot, it would explain why their icons are missing.

Still, that's probably one of the bigger issues, since if CPU difficulty level is in that location, then what would it look like if it actually had a character in it?

Mega man could be posted at the fringe of the character select screen, which would explain how we can't see his icon with the surplus of slots from what is shown to be cut from the picture.

It's likely that the photographer did that on purpose to not r3veal what could be on the other side

It is dubious, but I am going to say the one who leaked it, is a play tester. This just reaffirmed my character wish list if genuine.

Here's how we test its validity: By waiting for footage of the demo and peering the character screen.

As for the Anthony vs. Ridley thing, there's a clear blue outline from player two around that slot, but the inside seems a bit too blue for Ridley. Plus, Anthony could be added to be a replacement for Snake if necessary.

The first picture is Sonic, two empty boxes, and then an open box, which is likely the random button. The third/close up picture shows that Mega Man was in the box to the right of Sonic, and then there's just one other locked one to the right of Mega. If that red-ish box from the first set of screens is the random box, then that means three third party characters.

Someone on reddit posted this. Helps to see the whole selection screen. I don't think it's fake due to the "Colors" menu. Just seems way to real. Faker wouldn't add something like that.

Good good. I've never played a Metroid game. So, I just googled Anthony. Glad it is a long long shot.

I still say this is fake, but I dunno. The way the characters line up, does seem possible... If the only thing we get rid of is Snake and the PKMN Trainer, it works.... and if we actually get Ridley + Mewtwo.

Also, let's consider the box next to Pac Man? or in the general 3rd party row is the random box for the sake of arguing. That way, we have 50 characters.

This would be an awesome roster. not sure if it's real yet, ill wait until we see the demo screen at best buy/E3 but I really hope this is what we get now.

That's the thing though, we have no 'real' reason to believe in a DK newcomer. Unlike the 'Ridley' tease, he didn't tease us with anything else, and I'm almost positive this person is aware of the Gematsu leak, which is why he would tease Ridley of all characters.

Colors on teams have been disconfirmed though...although borders could be considered colors.
