I actually wouldn't mind Chorus Men, as long as Palutena got in I'm fine.
Chorus Men would be a cool idea, we've never really had a rhythm-based character. Maybe its combos would rely on you timing them correctly, making him for an interesting and original idea.
Who knows. Sakurai maybe could've wanted a rhythm-based character, and someone suggested the idea of a Rhythm Heaven rep in it.

Not really. There's still the possibility of RosalinaX being real and that can be fit with the Sal Romano leak pretty well. It's also possible that we'll see a third leak from Sal Romano at any time.

There's quite a few things you can discuss with the Sal Romano leak. You can discuss the validity of the leak, see how X leak could be compatible with the Sal Romano leak, discuss when and how we could see more information from Sal Romano and just about anything as long as it is relevant to the Sal Romano leak and minimize character speculation.

Ideally it would be great if people could recognize when and where to discuss certain topics, but realistically if this thread cannot manage to stay on topic past brief instances there probably will be some moderator intervention greater than what we've done so far. Let's hope we don't reach that point.

To restate to everyone, this thread is simply for discussion of the Sal leak, no other leaks, and not general character discussion. The threads to discuss those are the Social and the OCDT respectively. If you don't have anything that pertains to this leak to discuss... just don't post here.

WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE CHORUS MEN SO MUCH?

Even if you do hate them for some strange reason, you shouldn't dismiss a leak for including a "stupid" character, as Wii Fit Trainer is pretty much as "stupid" as you can get. I swear, the people on this thread are ridiculous sometimes.

I think this is my main beef with the leak haters right now. Instead of looking at it with a mindset of potential, they look at it in a negative light because it doesn't have the characters they want.

Back on the Leaks and Rumors thread, I remember shaking my head and laughing because a leak would come out, and instead of evaluating why it might or might not be possible, some people would immediately go "there's no Ridley/K.Rool/myfavoritecharacter there, so it's fake." That unshakable certainty will leak to disappointment. There is no guarantee the character you want will be on the roster. Ridley is not guaranteed. Pac-Man is not guaranteed. They're possible, but no matter how much any one individual believes they're going to be in the game, that doesn't mean it will actually happen. On the opposite end of the spectrum, simply because a character is there that you don't agree with, doesn't dismiss the validity of a claim.

As @SpeedBoost pointed out, so many people dismissed the Brawl leak beforehand simply because they didn't agree with ROB or they wanted Krystal instead. I find it hilarious people are doing that same thing once more. Chorus Men are not a terrible choice. Pac-Man is not a terrible choice. Neither are the Miis. Sakurai can turn all these characters into something awesome and unique and fun that bring something different to the Smash Bros. arena, just like ROB did. Think about a character's possibilities before dismissing them entirely, or dismissing them because they're not who you want instead.

Honestly, I was a bit shocked at the inclusion of Chorus Men at first. I thought it sounded absurd. But the more I got to thinking about it since the second Sal Leak got revealed, the more I got excited about the possibilities. They could be really unique and different. We need to think like Sakurai rather than thinking like the majority, because majority rules doesn't always equate to what happens in the end.

I'm not saying the Sal leak is 100% official, but right now is has no equal, and to dismiss it for such simple a reason as "X character is not on there" is foolish.

I agree this mentality that I bolded is unprofessional and an ill-fitting attitude to take towards leaks. Just because I don't like Miis it doesn't mean I don't believe they would most likely be in. Heck, I don't like the Chorus Men and think they wouldn't make a great addition to the roster and I know outright dismissing the possibility of the leak being correct just because they are there would be stupid and could lead to embarrassing consequences.

People should see the situation beyond their tastes, actually. I mean, I don't like Palutena as a character... I don't even think that Kid Icarus deserves a second character right now.. Metroid should get before, imo. But I DO think that Palutena will be a great addition... be for her potential moveset, or what she'll represent.. and delivering hype for the game, of course (the same I can say for Shulk or Chrom). I didn't like both Rosalina and Greninja additions, but both brought a lot for the game anyway.

If I remember correctly, RosalinaX is someone on the Mario Kart forums, and he came in contact with a credible leaker for MK8, that leaker also said that 4 characters would be cut from brawl. They never said who though, I think that's what it is.

It's really bare bones when it comes to info. As to how it ties in with sal's leak, we'll have to see.

People were tying it together with the Sal leak as though both were concrete, in other words saying that Sal's roster would have 48 character and 4 cuts along with the character's he's predicted. With the 11 Sal has leaked, 5 of them have been revealed. Add that to Rosalina, and if we consider the Sal leak true, that's 12 newcomers so far. (5 confirmed, 1 Rosalina, 6 more unconfirmed) Tie it in with the RosalinaX leak, and that means there are 36 more character slots available. 23 of them are revealed on the Smash Bros website, so that leaves 13 left to be revealed, either newcomers or veterans. If you consider all veterans from Brawl that haven't been revealed yet, there are 14 in total, not including Pokemon Trainer. That means someone has to be cut, which a lot of people have speculated to be Wolf, Lucas, or Snake. Some people cut all three in order to add Ridley and K. Rool to the roster, but again, we have no idea.

That's a lot of where the fun of speculating in the Sal leak comes from, but we don't even know if the RosalinaX leak and Sal leak are valid. I believe people disputed the RosalinaX leak because the leaker stated in the same post that inside drifting would return in Mario Kart 8 and so far it doesn't look like it does. However, I don't really think we should expect anything larger than a 48 character roster.

I just wish Sal's leaker would speak to him again, or even provide him with a screenshot or photo of some kind. That would help solidify everything.

So I went through the trailers

Megaman - During the starting point where we see Megaman, on the ground you can see pieces of grass some resemble those of the mechon ruble in Xenoblade(I've only played some so i'm not sure) That could be possibly hinting at Shulk, but we see the wrestling ring stage, which I believe could have been hinting at Little Mac

Villager - We can see Samus using her final smash, this could possibly hint at ZSS although that's not a new character, at the end of the trailer you can see Villager drop a bowling ball which could hint at Mii

Wii-Fit Trainer - At the beginning you can see Link, Kirby, and Mario posing, in sync that may hint at Rhythm Heaven Choir boys. Although when we see WFT's splash screen you can see the wii balance board hop around in the same fashion that Luma does and that is part of Rosalina's character.

Little Mac - Doc counts to 101 at the beginning of the Little Mac trailer. Wonder Red possibly?
Also another interesting note is we see the final destination version of Wiley's Castle(?The Megaman stage) It's also possible but doubtful that when Samus was comparing height with Little Mac it could have been a nod to Ridley, but again doubtful

Rosalina - While I can't find anything "solid" you can see a green light in the background that closely resembles a Pokeball

This leak really doesn't tangibly link to the Sal one more that it does any other. Like it says, it's the vaguest "leak" ever.

Also, pretty much all those examples are fairly huge stretches.

As always, let's keep the discussion solely about the Sal leak, not this one.

Anyway, the new rumor has me hopeful. I want it to be wildly different from the current leaks. I want to be pleasantly surprised.

That's a rather vague line of discussion - there are numerous reasons it COULD be false. Sal COULD have been kidnapped and replaced by a nemesis determined to besmirch his character by creating false leaks, though it's hardly bloody likely. There are only really two reasons it could be false - his source is screwing with him, or he's decided to kiss goodbye to his credibility and screw with us himself for kicks. Beyond that, Occam's Razor would seem to dictate that as the simplest and most believable eventuality, the likelihood is that this is a genuine leak. The probability of five correct 'guesses' and his previous good character make the opposite much less believable.

I LOVE the characters in the SAL leak. I'm just not sold on it.

This. Sal seems like a decent dude, and it also doesn't seem like he's in it for the hits to his site. That much is evident to me in the fact that he initially reported on the leak as just his "unlikely prediction" because he didn't want to post false info on the Gematsu site. Also, the post he made on the Leaks and Rumors thread was awesome. He really cleared up a lot of info, and also stated that he didn't have any control over when he got this new info. He wants more info from the leaker, just like the rest of us, but it's not his decision.

If in completely honest, if this leak had had K Rool, Ridley and Mewtwo in it as part of the second leak I highly doubt quite so many people would be calling shenanigans. I'm beginning to get the feeling that the arguments are down to the fact that these people don't like the leak, considering the complete lack of believable assertions as to why this is a fake.

I thought that was pretty obvious already. Like I said way back when, it's a lot like when the Brawl roster was leaked in its entirety. Of course, we have no idea if this is all of the newcomers, but the comparison still applies.
