Well everyone's objections so far are:

Gay names.
No meaning.

I reckon we need to hit on both at once, what is a name that would mean something to all of us? We have to be serious about this because this is a name we will hopefully be carrying for a while. I can't be doing with changing every few months.

Wings of Corruption would basically be insulting yourselves. If you were to use a name synonymous with it, you could go with Flight Of Perversion.

But 'Smash Drugs Beer' tops all lists on worst names Im afraid. I mean, dayum, arent we a bunch of sick-*** young rebels with a name like that:p?

Depends on how you view what is normally socially accepted. We believe our name encompassed who we are. Not that drugs/beer is all we're about but it does show a tendency of being sociable. Your post paul shows that our name is 'rebelious' thus indicating that you have no empathy towards our name and as such that your an unsociable geek ;). Smash Mafia ?! lol.

mafia- "The word "mafia" is taken from the old Sicilian adjective mafiusu, which has its roots in the Arabic mahyas, meaning "aggressive boasting, bragging" or marfud meaning "rejected". Roughly translated, it means "swagger", but can also be translated as "boldness, bravado". In reference to a man, mafius"

"The Mafia has used many other names to describe itself throughout its bloody history, such as The Honoured Society. Mafiosi are known among themselves as Men Of Honour."

Men of honour and smug.:laugh::);):chuckle::chuckle:

Forgot to say that mafia is by far the best crew name followed by IWR. SDB is by far the worst and wings of corruption is just really cheesy.

Nah big yun, I used 'rebels' just as some banter because it generally means people who are cool. I am completely aware that from 16-late 20's taking drugs and alcohol is very common, and I have drank with friends. And I take no shame in being unsociable, though I do socialise with people who I like or have similar interests too. I also wouldnt call myself a 'geek', other than the fact that I play smash in tournaments(which everyone on here is doing) there is little to my lifestyle that could be considered 'geeky'.

I can understand why you made those mistakes, but really my post was half-serious, and your reply shows you probably take yourself too seriously.

Though really, if Im quite frank, I think 'Smash Drugs Beer' as a crew name goes against what you've just said, instead of it simply being socially acceptable and therefore normal, you are emphasising it, therefore you are proud of it, and I interpret it as showing superiority over the legions of 'geeks' on this forum.

my god, mafia are piping up arent they, seems alot of hostility.

If you think SDB makes us 'rebels' then at least it implies something lol.

i agree with Ed, its just being social meng. tbh i think most of SDB dont even take drugs anymore, the name itself has been around for years, a time when Drinking and Drugging were significant enough to warrant a mention in the list of things we do or whatever, imo SDB is just about the people, after We Are The People are we not??

Big Jock Knew... not to mess with SDB

>_0

P.S. I say go with <3, it has a nice comedy charm without being a pure novelty. SDB are fun loving guys, as the name implies, i think <3 sounds rather fun loving too.

Mafia on the other hand gives an impression of a cold shoulder, and given the personalities of the mafia, them being rather quiet meng until you get to know them, the name fits.

all that and much more talking ******** to come

The 'rebels' bit can imply whatever you want it to. I can re-iterate that it was a joke, so whatever.

2 years ago was when the name came to prominence. Are you a cultural scientist having tracked our drug culture in those 2 years? Heck, even if it was made 10 years ago you couldnt say that lol.

I have argued with you a few times Joe and it always goes nowhere because, to give you the cold shoulder, I think you talk out your as$. You will keep arguing with me without even thinking about what you've said because your intentions are elsewhere, more specifically how you're perceived by Ed and the rest of SDB. If you really want me to get some of your older posts...

Btw Ant, dont put me into consideration for your fest cause I wont be going, the 14th weekend is the only I can host a fest of my own and the weekend after Im off. It'd be good to see you and Alan but maybe some other time. And sorry for being part of this.

This community is ****ing awful.

Tbh though I'm not feeling good about this 'crew' anyway. Since J03 decided we should all be the same crew, WOC and STFU were basically scrapped to come up with something called the smash yakuza (worst name ever btw), which incidentally was only a ploy by J03 and Will so that he could leave STFU with there still being good players left in it. The only problem is now is that were all over the place. I don't think I even know who's in my own crew anyway. I might just not even bother and say I'm uncrewed cos I was more than content with WOC until it all got too complicated.

With all this said then maybe I can at least make a start (or attempt) at sorting this crew out for the sake of the NW.

I don't know if I've forgotton anyone but here are the people that are in it. Now no-one take this personally but all of us apart from Kieran and Oniboy seem to see each other that much. There's also Golfie but he hasn't been to any Liverpool biweeklies and doesn't seem to play smash as much.

Now for the name. Well it currently stands as smash yakuza which as I've said many times before is a **** name and no-one seems to like WOC anymore.

Here's some I've come up with just to give up something to work with

we have box
lvl9 Ganon
Best in the West
**** weather, good smash
Rest in Peace
Accept no imitations
While stocks last

And before you all have a go at any of these first think of a better name yourself cos they're ****ing hard to think up :lick:

That's interesting because the best tournaments i've been to were the ones where there were a lack of SDB members in attendance, what a coincidence.

I think it would be a shame for you not to be part of a crew purely because of a name. Aside from that, i actually liked **** weather, good smash. It has meaning, it made me laugh, my only problem being the abbreviated name. SWGS is a mouthful. I don't think naming our crew for northwest is viable anymore. Ben will be moving back to southampton, and keiran is in scotland so i think we best stray away from the location crew names.

As I've said before, we need a unifying element to the crew name. Most major crews have been named around some sort of unifying theme. SDB all enjoy and partake in the three main staples of the crew name. Mafia, as Euan explained above men of honour and smug. GMC: (Gay Mum's Club) most of the members have lesbian mothers (At crew creation, this may not apply now). IWR - Cocky loudmouthing but it fits well, most members of this crew are pretty **** ****.

Big fan of SWGS, even though it does seem like more of a joke name than anything. Maybe a couple of the words could be substituted to allow the crew name to become an acronym.

Will think hard on making a contribution.
