how do you shield buffer I mean drop - is it when you slight drop your shield on a platform and you cancel faster??

Those are shield drop platform cancels. You are basically canceling a shield by instantly dropping through the platform. Simple as it sounds, that timing is suepr hard to get consistently. Instant-dash is much, much easier but is more limited.
